Job Description

Responsible for providing strategy and full integration of LEAN operating principles within the supply chain that drives elimination of waste, optimization of manufacturing processes and enables achievement of safety, quality, cost, service and people expectations.

Qualifications

RESPONSIBILITIES/PRINCIPAL DUTIES:

  • Create vision, strategy and goals, acting as a champion to achieve a culture of continuous improvement, operational excellence and achievement of safety, quality, cost, delivery and people expectations in both factories and office.

  • Promote and lead activities that identify all forms of waste through TPM (Toyota Production System).

  • Promote the value and adoption of “best practices” and create opportunities for sharing and instituting best practices

  • Develop and teach LEAN in cooperation with Shoe U, external vendors and others as needed.

  • Lead and participate in cross-functional teams to create transformational plans to optimize opportunities, develop continuous improvement plans, synthesize findings, develop countermeasures, achieve agreed upon targets and assure full integration and continuity of process changes.

  • Assure consistent/standardized processes are maintained, that statistical methods of data collection and analysis are used in the evaluation of proposed changes and all changes are properly documented.

  • Establish Control Plans and monitor appropriate Metrics to validate the status and success of LEAN projects.

  • Lead development and maintenance of LEAN standards including audits of internal and external facilities against standards.

  • Proactively develop and maintain broad knowledge of the technical disciplines; apply broad knowledge of trends and Best Practices in a manner that ensures exceptional performance and results.

  • Provide direction and assistance with developing Design of Experiments.

  • Insure effective collaboration within Supply Chain and all other business groups to execute critical projects for business growth and achieve company objectives.

  • Insure compliance with all company and regulatory policies and procedures. (e.g., safety, quality, finance, legal, human resources).

  • Achieve financial objectives by forecasting requirements; preparing an annual budget; scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions and effectively partnering with finance and other stakeholders.

  • Manage, empower and develop an effective functional team through appropriate selection, communication, coaching, training, reward/recognition and enforcement of company policies and procedures.

OTHER DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Obtain necessary information by maintaining knowledge of RWSC’s electronic communication software, ERP and other systems.

  • Maintain quality service by establishing, following, and enforcing organization quality system standards.

  • Uphold and role model Red Wing Shoe Company’s core values, policies and procedures.

  • Safeguard the assets of the Company, treating all technical developments, operational data, information on salaries and wages, customer lists, and similar data as required.

  • Comply with all governmental laws and regulations which pertain to the responsibilities of the position.

  • Complete other duties as assigned from time to time by your manager.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field and seven to ten years of LEAN leadership utilizing TPM (Toyota Production System) or equivalent combination of education and experience.
