Job Description

The Red Gate Group is seeking a TS/SCI cleared Network Engineer to support the Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) in Reston, VA.

As a Network Engineer, you will be responsible for the technical support and maintenance of network assets spanning various operational sites. Monitor and manage switches, routers, firewalls, and VPNs to uphold network functionality and security. Collaborate with Tier III support to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues promptly, ensuring uninterrupted network operations.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and maintain network assets across multiple physical sites and networks.
  • Collaborate with Tier III support to resolve technical issues and ensure system-wide problem resolution.
  • Support the operations and maintenance of critical Windows and Linux systems, ensuring operational availability and security.
  • Perform network asset management, including firewall ACL management and port security.
  • Utilize SolarWinds for real-time monitoring and enhance its capabilities to optimize network performance.
  • Log and track all incidents, requests, and tasks using BMC Remedy.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for troubleshooting procedures.
  • Assist in the relocation and replacement of networking equipment to support office moves and maintenance.
  • Contribute to network engineering efforts, including switch relabeling and network closet organization.
  • Revamp dashboards for systems monitored by Network Operations and patch and STIG Windows and Linux systems.

Qualifications

Required Experience & Skills

  • Active TS/SCI
  • 4+ years of experience with IT systems administration. 
  • Experience with developing and enhancing IT troubleshooting processes. 
  • Experience with and formal training in Windows, including 2012R2 and 2016 or RedHat Enterprise Linux, including RHEL 6 and RHEL 7.
  • Experience with DoD IT security requirements, including installing patches and conducting STIG reviews in YUM or Puppet.
  • Ability to analyze and refine standard operating procedures. 
  • Active DoDI 8570 Security Certification, including Security+, CCNA-Security, or CISSP.

Desired Experience & Skills

  • Experience with DevOps 
  • Experience with systems and service monitoring, including SolarWinds and ELK 
  • Experience with networking, including Port Security, Firewalls, F5 support, and DNS. 
  • Experience with remediation practices 
  • Experience with various applications, including Splunk, McAfee Security Suite, Microsoft
  • Exchange, Lucidworks, Net Brain, Microsoft SCCM, and Microsoft Systems Center Operations Manager 
  • Experience with using BMC Remedy for ticket queue maintenance and ticket tracking. 
  • Experience with virtualization, including VMware and VDI 
  • Experience with managing AD and Group Policy 
  • Knowledge of vulnerability and STIG scanning tools, including Nessus, SCC Tool, ACAS, and Tanium
