Instructor Special Operations EOD personnel shall serve as SMEs on the TTPs, SOPs, and POIs of the TSGs and communicate and train both military and civilian personnel on these plans and procedures. The Instructor Special Operations EOD personnel shall be an expert in using the TSG search equipment, communications systems, surveillance equipment, and other mission-essential gear. In addition, the individual will operate specialized equipment on land, sea, and air during contingency operations and training exercises.

The Instructor Special Operations EOD personnel train military and civilian personnel on setting up and operating search gear and communications equipment and directly support search operations. The individual must be able to conduct split team operations, separate and distinct from the Senior Instructor.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Become an SME on all TSG TTP, SOPs, and POIs and be able to communicate these plans and procedures to the TSG Team within 90 days of hire.
• Become an SME on all TSG search gear and communications equipment and train military and civilian personnel on the setup and operation of this TSG search gear and communications equipment.
• Update TTPs, SOPs, and POIs as required.
• Maintain proficiency on all mission-essential equipment.
• Serve as an SME on all TSG search equipment.
• Train designated personnel on TSG search equipment and operations.
• Support military and civilian personnel during WMD search operations, including tactical actions during operations.
• Be able to travel on very short notice and to work non-standard hours.

Required Qualifications:

• Former Navy EOD / Army EOD w/ mobility training/ former SMU Operator who is a graduate of NAVSCHOLEOD.
• Military instructor experience. No Less than two (2) years of experience as an instructor at a training command or in an operational unit’s training department.
• Experience in air operations.
• Have a fundamental familiarity and understanding of small boat operations, including Small Boat, coxswain qualified, or civilian equivalent.
• Experience in land and maritime reconnaissance and surveillance operations.
• Have a fundamental familiarity and understanding of CBRN PPE.
• Physically capable of working extended periods in SCBA.
• Army Senior Leader Course or service equivalent (desired)

Minimum Qualifications

• Experience with Crisis Response Forces or Special Mission Units (desired).
• All personnel shall be willing and physically capable of performing various infiltration and exfiltration techniques (FRIES, SPIES, Ladders, etc.) and other urban and rural movement techniques in specialized equipment (climbing, rappelling, SCBA, etc.).
• All personnel shall be capable of flying in utility helicopters for extended periods and be available for expeditious foreign travel.
• All personnel shall be physically and mentally qualified for deployment and performing duties, including tactical operations in austere, hostile environments.
• Annually, all TSG members must complete an Army Physical Fitness Test and score 270 or above for each individual’s specific age group, complete ten (10) pull-ups, and pass a Combat Water Survival Test (CWST).
• All personnel shall be knowledgeable and proficient in using assigned small arms (rifle and pistol) weapons for force protection and shall be able to qualify with the M9 pistol and M4 rifle in accordance with FM 3-23.35 and FM 3-22.9. Further, all contractor personnel shall comply with requirements IAW the Lautenberg Amendment.

Special Operations:  Special operations community personnel are those who have been trained in the execution of operations conducted in hostile, denied, or politically sensitive environments to achieve military, diplomatic, informational, and economic objectives employing military capabilities for which there is no broad conventional force requirement. These operations often require covert, clandestine, or low-visibility capabilities. Special operations are applicable across a range of military operations. They can be conducted independently or in conjunction with operations of conventional forces or other government agencies and may include operations through, with, or by indigenous or surrogate forces. Special operations differ from conventional operations in the degree of physical and political risk, operational techniques, mode of employment, independence from friendly support, and dependence on detailed operational intelligence and indigenous assets.
