Visa Cash App Racing Bulls F1 Team is one of two Red Bull-owned F1 teams.

Today’s Formula 1 calls for a high level of specialist skills in every area. At Visa Cash App Racing Bulls F1 Team we strongly believe that every member of our staff can and should lead innovation and continuous improvement in such a competitive and dynamic working environment.

Sounds exciting, doesn't? Don't miss your chance to make an impact!

We are looking for motivated Junior tool design engineers. In this role, you will be responsible for the design and development of composite tooling, including patterns, moulds, jigs, fixtures and manufacturing aids, to support the production of F1 car components. The role focuses exclusively on tooling solutions, working in parallel with component designers to enable efficient, high-quality, and repeatable manufacturing processes

Job Description

COMPOSITE TOOL DESIGN

Design and develop composite tooling solutions, including patterns, moulds, bonding jigs, machining fixtures, lamination tools and direct moulds, to support the manufacture of F1 car components & pit equipment.

Translate component design definitions into robust, efficient and manufacturable tooling strategies, ensuring repeatability, accuracy and quality in production.

Work in close collaboration with Composite and Mechanical Design Engineers to enable parallel progression of component and tooling design, reducing overall concept-to-release lead times.

Act as the technical owner of tooling design, ensuring solutions are optimised for: manufacturability, ease of use in production, dimensional control and repeatability, durability and lifecycle performance

Drive standardisation and reuse of tooling concepts, components and methodologies, contributing to improved consistency, reduced rework and more efficient decision-making.

Collaborate closely with Production, CAD/CAM and Manufacturing Engineering teams to ensure tooling designs are aligned with manufacturing processes, machine capabilities and factory constraints.

Under supervision of leadership and more senior designers, ensure tooling designs are fully documented and released in line with project requirements, including clear definition of: manufacturing intent, assembly and usage requirements , inspection and validation criteria.

Identify and resolve tooling-related issues arising during manufacture, build and part production, ensuring timely feedback and implementation of corrective actions.

Establish and maintain strong feedback loops from production and inspection, using lessons learned to continuously improve tooling design quality and efficiency.

Support the development of tooling design standards, best practices and design rules (DORs) within the tooling team.

Contribute to the reduction of tooling lead time and overall programme risk by proactively managing workload, identifying critical paths and prioritising key deliverables in agreement and with guidance from the Line Manager.

Maintain effective and collaborative communication across all stakeholders, ensuring clear handover of tooling designs into production and alignment with project timing and objectives.

Demonstrate flexibility and commitment to delivery, supporting both planned development activities and urgent manufacturing requirements as needed.

We specify that the above mentioned level is a minimum threshold and does not correspond to the overall compensation package, which is determined by objective, measurable and gender-neutral criteria, being significantly higher than the contractual minimum indicated.

Qualifications

University degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or a related field.

Previous working or Formula SAE experience in tooling design for composite manufacturing, with a proven track record of delivering moulds, patterns, jigs, fixtures and lamination tooling solutions.

Strong academic knowledge of composite materials and manufacturing processes, including layup, curing, bonding, machining and assembly, with the ability to apply this knowledge to the design of robust and efficient tooling.

Good understanding of tooling design principles, including dimensional control, tolerancing, material selection, durability and lifecycle considerations, and the impact of tooling on part quality and repeatability.

Good understanding of Design for Manufacture (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA), with the ability to translate component design intent into practical, manufacturable tooling solutions.

Proficiency in CAD design using Siemens NX; CATIA or similar CAD systems are acceptable although less preferred.

Familiarity with CAD/CAM integration and manufacturing workflows, including interaction with CNC machining, inspection processes and production environments.

Strong problem-solving skills, with a focus on identifying and resolving tooling and manufacturing challenges, and delivering practical, high-quality engineering solutions.

Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including Composite and Mechanical Design Engineers, Production, CAD/CAM and suppliers, ensuring effective communication and smooth transfer of tooling designs into manufacture.

Ability to work under pressure to achieve targets and deliver results within required timescales, managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

High level of attention to detail and commitment to quality, ensuring tooling designs are accurate, complete and fit for purpose.

Initiative and a continuous improvement mindset, contributing to the development of tooling standards, best practices and more efficient ways of working.

Flexible, proactive and “can-do” attitude, with the ability to adapt to changing project requirements and support urgent manufacturing needs when required.
