The National Productivity Engineer helps design, implement, and improve routing strategies and processes that support efficient and effective operations across the organization. This role partners with teams across Routing, Operations, Market Leadership, and IT to identify opportunities for improvement, enhance service performance, and create solutions that help teams work more effectively. By building strong cross-functional relationships and leveraging data-driven insights, the National Productivity Engineer contributes to consistent performance, continuous improvement, and a positive experience for both employees and customers.
Job Description
MANAGING EXPECTATIONS
Develop and implement routing plans that support business needs and help teams operate efficiently across assigned markets.
Coordinate project activities, timelines, and communications with a variety of internal and external partners to ensure projects stay on track.
Gather, organize, and maintain routing-related data, ensuring information is accurate, complete, and accessible.
Serve as a trusted resource for GSMs and Market Teams by providing guidance on productivity, service standards, route optimization, and operational efficiency.
Partner with GSMs and Market Teams to identify challenges, investigate root causes, and develop practical solutions that support business goals.
Monitor project progress, track key milestones, and help ensure deliverables are completed on time and with a high level of quality.
Communicate risks, challenges, and opportunities proactively, escalating issues when additional support or decision-making is needed.
Travel as needed (approximately 20–30%) to support project implementations, market initiatives, training, and field execution.
Use analytical thinking and problem-solving skills to evaluate data, identify trends, and generate insights that support informed decision-making and continuous improvement.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This role involves a combination of desk-based and active work, including using a computer, handling materials, reaching, and communicating with others throughout the day.
Employees in this role may spend time sitting, walking, and occasionally standing during the course of their work.
Some tasks may require occasional bending, kneeling, crouching, or similar movements.
The ability to safely move or lift materials weighing up to 25 pounds may be needed from time to time.
The role requires the ability to effectively perform work that may involve viewing information on screens, reviewing documents, and navigating work environments.
Depending on business needs, work may take place in a variety of settings, including environments with moving equipment or changing weather conditions.
The typical work environment has a moderate noise level.
Qualifications
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree or 5–7 years of relevant industry experience.
- 3–5 years of experience in the beverage industry or similar DSD operations environment.
- Strong leadership capabilities, including the ability to mentor, train, and provide effective feedback.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including PowerPoint deck creation and presentation in both individual and group settings.
- Proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook.
- Demonstrated analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Project Management experience is a plus.
- Logistics experience preferred.
- Routing software experience preferred. (Descartes WinRoute)
Additional Information
This position is open to U.S. citizens, U.S. permanent residents, or individuals who are currently authorized to work in the United States on a valid visa.
The base salary range for this position is $92,000 to $138,000 + cash incentives. Actual salary offers may vary based on work experience. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified.
