The Head of Motorsports is responsible for developing the local strategy for national and global Motorsports events, athlete & content plans in Australia, as well as contributing to the broader Sports Marketing program. Working closely with cross-functional teams, this role leverages the full sales and marketing mix, driving brand and product growth in key motorsports disciplines. They will lead the full strategy development from insights, industry relationships, ideation of concept through to planning & most importantly through to flawless execution.  

Job Description

SPORTS MARKETING STRATEGY

  • Develop the overall Sports Marketing strategy for Motorsports, identifying opportunities to drive brand health and product usage.
  • Create tailor-made, highly relevant marketing concepts for regional and national audiences that deliver personal experiences for participants and spectators while generating unique media content.
  • Identify, build and maintain strong relationships with emerging and established motorsports talent, including national heroes, rising stars and athletes feeding into our global junior development programs.
  • Work closely with field marketing teams to identify key motorsport playgrounds across the country and develop plans that effectively leverage assets to win.

 

STAKEHOLDER MANAGEMENT

  • Collaborate with international and local counterparts, particularly the Red Bull Media Network, to develop strong local event marketing and communication programs.
  • Oversee goal setting, planning and performance management for the Red Bull Motorsport Athlete Program, while managing HQ approvals for branded apparel and 360° marketing and communication plans.
  • Actively source partnership income (cash or value-in-kind) for marketing programs that deliver win–win outcomes for Red Bull and its partners.
  • Lead all aspects of managing the Red Bull Ampol Racing Team, including annual planning workshops, KPI development and regular check-ins to oversee partnership deliverables.
  • Lead the relationship with Red Bull’s F1 teams locally, which includes developing strong plans for our local race as well as leveraging business opportunities that connect the brand to Formula 1.

 

EXECUTIONAL EXCELLENCE

  • Position Red Bull as a leading functional sports beverage by building a strong industry network and driving product education and usage.
  • In partnership with Red Bull Media Network, Field and Brand teams, execute the annual business plan with a focus on target delivery, amplification and maximizing consumer impact through the Red Bull marketing mix.
  • Work closely with communications and legal to produce high editorial content that meets Red Bull Media House specs, clears all rights, and is delivered on time in full compliance with Australian law and internal legal processes.
  • Partner with the Red Bull Ampol Racing Team to develop the annual merchandise program aligned with HQ direction and local consumer insights, ensuring all ranges are fully approved on time.

 

BUSINESS OPERATIONS

  • Develop and manage monthly budgeting process in line with business operations ensuring accuracy and detail.
  • Manage all event partners, agencies and contractors, ensuring full legal and compliance measures are in place and collaborating with the Red Bull WH&S Manager on business requirements.
  • Lead all aspects of project planning, execution and reporting, including stakeholder meetings, presentation development for concept sign off, and post project reviews with clear execution deliverables.
  • Oversee ongoing updates to the Red Bull SportsNet tool, ensuring accurate, timely information on all marketing topics (event calendars, factsheets, news, etc.).
  • Ensure all relevant event branding tools are leveraged at each event, maximizing brand and commercial impact with partners. Work with internal teams to regularly review branding tools for optimal impact and efficient resourcing.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years’ experience in sports marketing, with a strong interest in motorsports.
  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in sports, events or marketing preferred.
  • Strong project management and event delivery skills.
  • Exceptional time management and negotiation skills.
