Position Summary

The position focuses on the Red Bull New York (MLS) team, on the Red Bull New York (MLS NEXT PRO) team and on the Red Bulls’ Academy. The successful candidate will be positioned within the scouting department at the Red Bulls Training Facility located on Melanie Lane, Whippany, New Jersey. This is a full-time position focusing on all aspects of player recruitment and scouting. The successful candidate will at times be expected to work evenings and weekends, at the discretion of the Head of Scouting. 

Job Description

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (Required to perform the job) 

Identify players through video scouting and the use of data analysis in assigned target territories 

Attending games and tournaments (professional/youth) for live scouting purposes 

Ability to travel up to 30 percent including international 

Create both written and video reports on individual players to feed into our scouting database  

Create and maintain personal shortlists and regularly update them  

Stay up-to-date on the roster quality of the First & Second teams 

Build up a robust portfolio of player research and information in advantageous territories 

All other duties as assigned by the Head of Scouting

SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY:  

The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities and be able to demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job: 

A knowledge of scouting processes within soccer, backed up by relevant experience  

Possess excellent communication, organizational, and time-management skills 

Proficiency in presentation building tools (Microsoft Office/Apple Office) 

Experience in statistical analysis (preferred) 

Strong attention to detail, working diligently with accuracy under time constraints 

Bring a natural enthusiasm to discovering soccer players for our club 

CONTINUAL PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT  

Maintain existing and build new relationships throughout our club, league and key territories  

Work towards designated SMART (Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic, Timed) targets for personal development and departmental progression - Lead on projects as needed under the guidance of the Head of Scouting 

Proactive approach and taking initative on new ideas improving the scouting department

Qualifications

EDUCATION 

Bachelor’s degree in performance Analysis, Sports Science, or related area of study (preferred) 

Coaching License, Soccer Analysis / Talent ID or similar certificates (preferred) 

Foreign language competence (preferred) 

EXPERIENCE 

Candidate needs to have 2+ years work experience in the industry at a professional/college level: scout, coach, performance analyst, player. 

Additional Information

Because of the cyclical nature of the entertainment industry, your assigned hours may vary to reflect our needs (includes nights and weekends). 

The base salary range for this position is $65,000 - $70,000. Actual salary offers may vary based on work experience.
