Our client is a leading solar distribution company that provides state-of-the-art solar home systems which they have developed and fine-tuned by listening closely to the needs of their customers. They are looking for a head of finance and accounting to join their team in Nairobi.

The Head Finance and Accounting will be building and developing the Finance and Accounting structures and systems at the head office and throughout the distribution network in view of the strategic goals of the company, providing a perspective on growth and expansion; and developing and sustaining a culture of a great place to work.

You will develop a thorough understanding of the offices’ requirements regarding finance, accounting, reporting, controlling, tax, audit, compliance etc. and will partner with executive management to identify gaps, opportunities, new projects and threats. You will be responsible for full, accurate and equitable administration of all finance and accounting related fields and will be directly responsible for monitoring the day-to-day work and direct supervision of accounting and finance team.

You will report to the Chief Executive Officer.

• Communicate and ensure compliance and consistency with office practices and policies and compliance with all finance, tax and accountancy related laws.
•  Setting up and managing the company’s financial systems including: Management and Statutory Accounting, internal and external Reporting, Audit Management, Tax Management, Financial Analysis, Business Planning, Controlling and Budget Management.

• Develop, manage and implement finance and accounting policies. Make certain that all systems and processes are highly reliable, finely tuned and well delivered with an aim toward pro-action.
• Serve as team leader, coach and advocate for finance and accounting staff.
• Other duties as necessary and related.

• Degree in Accounting, Financial Management or related field complete with min. 5 years of professional experience with progressive and hands-on generalist finance experience.
• Knowledge and experience in relevant laws,.
• Experience with setting up a finance and accounting system for a distribution company is a plus.
• Accurate and efficient management style, high energy, comfortable performing projects in conjunction with day-to-day activities. Excellent organizational and analytical skills and good reasoning abilities and sound judgment Demonstrated ability to successfully work in teams that provide leadership and strategic direction.
