Celgene is seeking a highly motivated Associate Scientist with strong attention to detail and interpersonal communication skills to design, conduct and report in vivo pharmacology and pharmacokinetics studies in rodents. Ability to participate in maintenance of the animal facility is also required.
KEY FEATURES
Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:
- 1. Design and conduct in vivo studies in rodents to establish PK/PD relationships, and in vivo proof of concept for target validation in a dynamic, fast-paced discovery environment.
- 2. Directly enable the conduct of in vivo studies. Demonstrated expertise in small animal handling, dosing, recording of observations, blood and tissue collection and necropsy required.
- 3. Data collection in electronic notebook or in hardcopy laboratory notebooks is critical.
- 4. Communicate effectively within the Preclinical Sciences group, which includes colleagues in PK/bioanalysis.
Qualifications
SKILLS AND QUALITIES NEEDED:
- • BS degree required, AALAT/AALATg preferred with 5+ years of hands on laboratory experience in small animal experimentation.
- • This person has to be proficient in handling rodents (rats and mice) and able to calculate dose formulation requirements and prepare for PK or pharmacology studies, administer compounds via various routes (IV, PO, IP), and collect blood and various tissue samples for analysis.
- • Also, this candidate should be proficient in data collection/documentation, either in electronic or hardcopy forms.
- • Experience in rodent necropsy or in models of disease (inflammation) would be highly preferred.
- • This individual is also expected to be highly organized, detail oriented, a team player, enthusiastic about drug discovery, and a strong communicator with strong work ethics.
- • Occasional rotating weekend activities are shared among the Preclinical group, and candidate would have to be willing to participate in this rotating assignment.
