Job Description

We are looking for an exceptional Senior Buyer to join our team.  As a key member of a multi-discipline project team, you will be responsible for defining Supply Chain solutions, selecting strategic suppliers, and developing and deploying a complex category strategy. Your focus will be on driving cost, quality and delivery improvements while protecting the program requirements.

 

Your role will involve providing the interface between the Supply Chain and Program functions to define program needs and deliver a strategy capable of delivering those needs. You will work with the project team and strategic suppliers to define the required specifications and drive improvements through design changes.  You will champion the category strategy through all program supply chains, while ensuring that company IP is protected through NDAs and secure contracts.

Qualifications

To be successful you'll need:

 

  • Strong Supply Chain Management background
  • Excellent contractual expertise
  • Defining and developing supply chain strategies
  • Complex bid management and negotiation in a complex commercial environment
  • Defining and developing material or service specifications / statements of work
  • Demonstrable success in cost reduction initiatives
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in heavy engineering, mechanical, construction or related industries
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience at a contract management level
  • Personally motivated, with a task-oriented approach
  • Strong and adaptable influencing skills
  • Financially astute, perceptive and intuitive, with strong commercial judgment
  • Highly credible, can talk with authority
  • Able to energise and drive a high-performing, matrixed team
  • Discretion to handle confidential information

Salary: £45,000 - £52,000
