We are looking for a Central Editor to join our newly formed Distribution Hub, which ensures our content reaches our audiences through social media platforms, direct messaging and newsletters.This is a unique opportunity to work with iconic brands including but not limited to The Mirror and Daily Express to the Manchester Evening News, MyLondon, WalesOnline and beyond.
The ideal candidate will distribute content across social, newsletters, direct messaging and emerging platforms which attract new, relevant audiences to our brands and keep existing audiences coming back to our titles, driving revenue both organically and commercially.
We’re looking for fresh ideas and new perspectives from people from a wide range of backgrounds, and we want you to tell us the stories you believe are important from our many communities so we can continue to diversify our content.

This is a maternity cover role, initially for 6 months, starting as soon as possible.
This role is home based and we are therefore open to candidates based across the UK.
Job Description
What will the role involve?
You will ensure an optimised workflow is in place so all news titles benefit from central distribution support. You will support the Executive Editor and make sure work carried out by the team is as impactful and efficient as possible across all referrers and targeted content types. You will support other departments like SEO, Marketing, and Insights to help them achieve their objectives.
You will be responsible for key reporting areas of distribution, providing regular group-wide updates and guidance on platform and topic performance. You will act quickly to take advantage of the best possible opportunity at any given time, always ensuring best practices are followed. You will directly manage a team, creating a supportive and efficient working environment. This role involves working shifts on a rota pattern (shifts between 6am and 10pm), working 1 weekend in three, so a flexible approach is required.
Qualifications
Who are we looking for?
You are an experienced senior journalist and editor with your NCTJ or equivalent qualification, media law knowledge and a proven track record of working at Editor level in a fast paced newsroom environment. You have a wealth of experience within digital publishing, audience engagement and distribution. You will have good up-to-date knowledge of how content is distributed through social and secure channels.
You know the important role that audience engagement and social media plays in our newsrooms. You are an experienced people manager or you have the skills to step into a hands-on managerial role and can motivate your team. You are a first class communicator who can attend conferences and be the face of your team with ease.
