The CNC Programmer Tool & Die Maker

Job Description

The Tool & Die Maker is responsible for programming CNC mills using Mastercam (latest version), machining tight tolerance fixtures and gauges, and production support and troubleshooting.  Ensure that all work is accomplished with high quality, in a timely fashion and is compliant with all company, city, state and federal regulations. 

 

This position is for a candidate interested in a long-term position within a large, reputable company, that wants continuous growth to their skillset.  Ideal candidate will have strong problem-solving skills and is a team player.  While Collins Aerospace is a large company our Wilsonville Model Shop is a smaller team and we're seeking candidates that have the willingness to jump in and get their hands dirty as we build a highly skilled team. While there’s a lengthy list of preferred qualifications for this role – we are looking to build our team and invest in our employees. Training and/or continued education is available and encouraged through Streaming Teacher and our Employee Scholars Program. 

 

Primary Responsibilities: 

  • Programming vertical CNC mills, set-ups, inspections, blueprint reading. 
  • Set up machines to perform operations within its capability by positioning, aligning, and securing work; utilizing and adapting appropriate tools. 
  • Ability to establish priorities of work.   
  • Demonstrate the analytical skills and problem solving that are necessary for machine adjustments and performing the machining process.  
  • Demonstrate proper use of inspection equipment including indicators, micrometers, calipers, height gauges, sine plates, angle plates and on granite surface plates. 
  • Demonstrate accuracy precision with exceptionally tight tolerances to produce fixtures and gauges to support production product. 

 


    Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance employees, as they are essential to the development of our products.

    Qualifications

    Basic Qualifications: 

    • AA/AS degree (or other 2-year post high school training) with a minimum of 8 years relevant experience. 
    • OR In the absence of a HS diploma, GED or AA/AS degree, 10 years of relevant experience is required. 
    • OR A Bachelor’s degree in the appropriate discipline and 2 years of relevant experience. 
    • Must be a U.S. Person/Permanent Resident “Green Card” holder. 

    Preferred Qualifications: 

    • Journeyman Tool & Die Maker / CNC Programmer 
    • Mastercam Programming (latest version). 
    • 5 Axis experience (Preferred, but not required) 
    • Zeiss CMM & Calypso programming experience (Preferred, but not required) 
    • 8+ years of experience machining high precision parts 
    • HAAS VF6-VF4 Vertical CNC Mill experience 
    • CMM using Calypso Software experience. 
    • Strong work ethic, problem solver, and interest in continuous learning  
    • Commanding knowledge of GD&T (print reading) 
    • Strong communication skills. 
    • Strong understanding of programming. 
    • Ability to review engineering drawing for feasibility machining operations. 
    • Ability to recommend solutions to complex machining needs. 
    • Skilled at creative repairs of damaged machined parts. 
    • Additive manufacturing experience is a plus.
