Job Description

Under the direction of the Aquatics Director, the Lifeguard maintains safe swimming conditions in the pool, deck, and surrounding areas. Lifeguards possess knowledge of rescue procedures and emergency medical procedures. The Lifeguard demonstrates cause driven leadership through the following YMCA Leadership Competencies - Mission Advancement; Collaboration; Operational Effectiveness and Personal Growth. The Lifeguard engages in and promotes the YMCA mission through the core values: Honesty, Caring, Responsibility and Respect.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic urban, growing organization just 5 miles west of New York City in the water front city of Perth Amboy. The Raritan Bay Area YMCA has served the ever-evolving needs of our community since 1912. We enthusiastically serve over 7,000 members in the Raritan Bay area. The Raritan Bay Area YMCA aquatics center includes a competitive pool, recreation pool, hot tub area and state of the art viewing gallery which attracts area teams for large meets.

Qualifications

  • Current state approved first-aid certification, CPR for the Professional Rescuer and Lifeguard certification.
  • Skilled in swimming.
