• This candidate should be a Sr. Level Hadoop/ Big data Administrator.
• The manager is seeking a candidate who has hands on experience working directly with applications.
• They should also have knowledge/ background with MapR

Job Description:

• Strictly looking for a Senior Level Admin, NOT a developer.
• If they have a development background that’s ok, but this is not a development role.
• The main technology is MapR .
• If they’re familiar with many of the other Big Data languages they could still possibly work for this role, but let’s put a focus on having MapR experience first.
• This person should have hands on experience working with applications as this will be a big part of their role here at American Express.
• MapR Platform Systems Engineer - Support MapR Platform functionality
• Installation
• Configure Cluster Resources
• Volumes, Snapshots, and Mirrors
• Data Access
• Disk and Node Maintenance
• Monitoring, Manage, Basic Linux, and Troubleshoot the Cluster
• Skill on converged data platform  - Hadoop and Spark
• Passionate about learning, take pride in code quality and a self-starter
• Experience building and delivering multi-threaded scalable and distributed systems
• 24x7 support experience is a plus
• Experience with trouble shooting batch performance issues is preferred
• Experience with Hbase / MAPR DB is recommended

Education:

• Bachelors or Higher
