Job Description

What will you be responsible for?  


The Sr. Benefits Specialist administers the benefit and wellness plans including plan setup and administration as well as enrollment and billing.  They will have an integral part in designing and managing the benefits programs, including benchmarking, cost analysis, vendor management and plan communication. 

In this role you will:

  • Manage, administer, and communicate employee benefit programs in the US and Canada including health, wellness, 401K/RSSP, short and long term disability.  
  • Act as the primary interface between Rand and our 401k, RSSP, US and Canadian benefit broker
  • Facilitate annual open enrollment process, conduct new hire benefit orientation, and answer all employee related benefit questions.  
  • Administer the 401(k) plan including enrollments, terminations, contributions, loan administration, compliance testing, and Form 5500 preparation.
  • Participate in the semi-annual 401K committee and respond to 401(k) inquiries from employees relating to enrollments, plan changes and contribution amounts. Manage the quarterly 401k catch-up contribution process.
  • Benchmark benefit programs against industry standards, research new benefit programs, and recommend new benefit offerings.
  • Prepare and disseminate annual employee compensation and benefit statements
  • Keep apprised of federal, state, and local benefit and 401K laws and regulations to ensure company compliance including ERISA, HIPPA and COBRA
  • Participate in the planning and managing of employee Wellness Programs.
  • Administer the tuition reimbursement program. Prepare special reports for internal customers & respond to data requests from Department of Labor and other government agencies as required.
  • Administer the leave of absence and short and long term disability program
  • Administer annual merit increase process. Be the primary back up for the Payroll Administrator.
  • Partner with internal business partners (e.g., Finance, Payroll, and HRIS) and external partners (e.g., consultants, vendors) to improve the administration of programs

Qualifications

Who are we looking for?

  • 8-10 plus years of increasingly responsible experience in benefits administration
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Demonstrated experience with HRIS. Familiarity with Ceridian Dayforce a plus
  • Experience with Canadian benefits, including Group Retirement Savings Plans, a plus
  • Experience managing health, welfare, retirement, and service delivery providers/vendors 
  • Experience administering 401(K) plans
  • Established ability to work in a geographically disbursed environment with a strong focus on customer service  
  • Demonstrated project management and ability to lead multiple initiatives in a dynamic, fast-paced environment  
  • Strong business acumen, presentation, and analytical skills  
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills  
  • Must be discrete and maintain the highest confidentiality with extremely sensitive information
  • Working knowledge of federally mandated Personnel/Employment Laws
  • Working knowledge of provincial employment standards legislation
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent certifications (CEBS, CCP)
