Champion patient safety as an Infection Prevention and Control Nurse (Part-time)!
Are you an experienced Registered Nurse with a passion for clinical governance, surveillance, and patient safety? Join our dedicated Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) team at Ramsay Health Care in this rewarding part-time opportunity.
In this role, you will play a crucial part in safeguarding our patients, visitors, and colleagues. You will support evidence-based infection prevention practices, clinical surveillance, and education across our hospital.
About the role
Working as an integral part of our IPC team, you will contribute directly to maintaining a safe clinical environment. You will lead proactive surveillance, monitor compliance, and empower our clinical teams through practical education.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Conducting healthcare-associated infection surveillance, reporting, and analysis.
- Managing surveillance and clinical protocols for multi-resistant organisms (MRO).
- Assisting with outbreak investigation, containment, and rapid response activities.
- Completing regular IPC clinical audits and compliance monitoring across all hospital areas.
- Driving hospital-wide compliance with Hand Hygiene and Bare Below the Elbows (BBE) initiatives.
- Advising clinical teams on standard and transmission-based precautions.
- Delivering infection prevention education and practical competency assessments for colleagues.
- Reviewing environmental cleaning and equipment reprocessing practices to uphold strict hygiene standards.
- Contributing to clinical governance frameworks and continuous quality improvement projects.
- Identifying infection risks promptly, escalating concerns, and implementing effective mitigation strategies.
- Assist with the assessment / screening of JHC staff and provision of vaccination for the staff health program.
About you
You bring sound clinical acumen, strong analytical capabilities, and an eye for detail. You communicate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and inspire others to uphold the highest standards of safety.
Key requirements and attributes include:
- Current registration as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA.
- Demonstrated experience in an acute healthcare setting.
- Previous experience or post-graduate study in Infection Prevention and Control (highly regarded).
- Immunisation certificate
- Sound knowledge of Australian infection prevention standards, NHMRC guidelines, and clinical governance principles.
- Strong analytical skills with confidence in collecting, interpreting, and presenting surveillance data.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to engage and educate colleagues at all levels.
- A proactive approach to risk identification, problem-solving, and patient advocacy.
Additional Information
- Must provide or complete a National Police Check conducted within the previous 12 months.
- According to the role, Ramsay may require a Working-With-Children Check and proof of immunisation against infectious diseases.
