Job Description

Ramsay Health Care is seeking a strategic, commercially minded and collaborative leader to join our national Payor Relations team as National Manager, Payor Contracting. In this high-impact role, you’ll lead the strategy and management of Ramsay’s payor contracting function, partnering closely with hospital executives, health funds and senior stakeholders across the organisation. You’ll have end-to-end oversight of the payor contract lifecycle, from strategy and negotiation through to implementation, performance and continuous improvement. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in shaping Ramsay’s commercial outcomes, driving revenue and profitability while strengthening partnerships across the organisation and the broader private health sector. Please note, this is a 12-month contract opportunity and can be based in Brisbane, Sydney or Melbourne.

What You’ll Do

In this role, you’ll lead Ramsay’s payor contracting strategy, balancing strong commercial outcomes with effective relationships and practical implementation across the business.

  • Lead the strategic direction, priorities and principles for the Payor Contracting function.
  • Oversee the design, evaluation and negotiation of payor contracts with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Coordinate stakeholder consultation and contract implementation, supporting Payor Relations and operational teams through process and system changes.
  • Monitor contractual performance and identify opportunities to optimise revenue, profitability and operational outcomes.
  • Manage day-to-day contract activities, including disputes and administrative performance obligations.
  • Provide advice and guidance on contract interpretation and implementation.
  • Identify and drive continuous improvement and innovation across the contracting function.
  • Analyse emerging issues and market trends, developing commercial strategies and recommendations.
  • Build strong relationships with hospital executives, health funds and key industry stakeholders.
  • Lead and support a high-performing team, fostering collaboration, accountability and commercial focus.

What You’ll Bring

You’ll be a commercially astute leader with strong healthcare experience and the ability to build trusted relationships, navigate complexity and deliver strategic outcomes.

You’ll bring:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Business, Finance or a related discipline, and/or significant experience in healthcare revenue generation.
  • Proven experience negotiating and managing healthcare contracts.
  • Strong understanding of the Australian private health industry and the challenges and opportunities facing hospital operators.
  • Experience working with revenue operations within large, complex organisations.
  • Strong commercial acumen and an understanding of the key drivers, risks and cost pressures affecting financial performance.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyse complex issues, identify opportunities and develop practical solutions.
  • Experience developing innovative funding models and a strong understanding of health case mix and private healthcare reporting requirements.
  • Advanced relationship management, influencing, consultation and negotiation skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership capability, with the ability to motivate and develop others.
