Job Description
This is a pivotal role supporting the National Safety Team and National Safety Manager in the delivery of a best-practice safety and injury management framework across the organisation. You will play a key role in implementing and embedding the RamAusSMS safety management system, driving proactive Work Health & Safety (WHS) practices, and ensuring compliance across hospital and corporate environments. In addition, you will act as the Return to Work Coordinator, leading injury management and rehabilitation activities that support injured workers to safely and sustainably return to work. This role is centred on early intervention, collaboration, and achieving positive recovery outcomes that benefit both individuals and the organisation.
What You’ll Do
In this role, you will work across both WHS operations and injury management to ensure safe systems, proactive risk management, and effective rehabilitation outcomes are achieved across the organisation.
- Support the implementation, coordination, and ongoing improvement of the RamAusSMS across facilities.
- Partner with hospital executives and managers to embed proactive WHS and risk management practices.
- Monitor WHS trends, legislation changes, and provide actionable insights and reporting to leadership.
- Coordinate safety committees, Health & Safety Representatives, and facility Health & Safety Plans.
- Lead incident reporting, investigation, and corrective action processes, including RCA involvement where required.
- Oversee hazard identification, risk controls, and compliance with safety policies and procedures.
- Support audits, inspections, and continuous improvement of safety systems.
- Deliver WHS education, training, and guidance across teams and stakeholders.
As part of the Return to Work function, you will also support injured workers through structured rehabilitation and early intervention processes designed to achieve positive recovery outcomes.
- Manage end-to-end injury management and return to work processes.
- Develop, implement, and monitor Return to Work and Suitable Duties plans.
- Facilitate early intervention strategies to support recovery at work.
- Coordinate rehabilitation providers, treating practitioners, insurers, and internal stakeholders.
- Conduct case conferencing and proactively manage barriers to return to work.
- Maintain accurate, confidential case records in line with legislative requirements.
- Promote the health benefits of safe and early return to work.
What You’ll Bring
You are an experienced WHS and injury management professional who is confident working across complex environments, influencing stakeholders, and driving practical safety and rehabilitation outcomes.
Key capabilities:
- Qualification in Work Health and Safety (essential).
- Accreditation or training in workplace injury management / rehabilitation (essential).
- Strong understanding of WHS legislation and workers’ compensation frameworks.
- Demonstrated experience in injury management, return to work coordination, and rehabilitation.
- Ability to manage competing priorities in a complex, multi-stakeholder environment.
- Strong communication, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Proven ability to analyse risk, solve problems, and drive practical outcomes.
- Experience working with WHS systems, incident management tools, and reporting platforms.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and strong general computer literacy.
