Career Medical Officer (Hospital Medical Officer)

An exciting opportunity exists for a Career Medical Officer to join our Clinical Services team, providing high-quality, patient-centred care across the hospital.

About the Role

As a Career Medical Officer, you will deliver acute clinical care to inpatients and support the safe and efficient operation of medical services across the hospital. Working under the direction of Specialists and Visiting Medical Officers (VMOs), you will play a key role in managing deteriorating patients, responding to emergencies and ensuring continuity of care, particularly out of hours.

• Inpatient assessment, treatment and ongoing care
• Responding to MET calls, Code Blues and urgent clinical reviews
• Admission and review of patients, including out-of-hours coverage
• Initiation of investigations and development of management plans
• Accurate and timely clinical documentation
• Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to optimise patient outcomes

About You

You are a capable and confident clinician with strong clinical judgement and the ability to manage a broad range of presentations, including critically ill patients. You thrive in a fast-paced environment and are committed to delivering safe, high-quality patient care.

Essential Criteria

• Current AHPRA registration as a medical practitioner
• Minimum 2 years post-graduate clinical experience
• Ability to manage acute and complex presentations, including critically ill patients
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work effectively both independently and within a multidisciplinary team

Desirable

• Experience in emergency medicine, coronary care or acute care settings
• Experience in intensive care or anaesthesia
