Job Description

This is a senior leadership role with significant influence across a complex, multi-site hospital network. As Deputy CEO, you will lead strategic and operational performance across Warners Bay and Berkeley Vale Hospitals, as well as oversee Corporate Services including Maintenance, Hotel Services and Supply within the Newcastle Network. Working closely with the CEO, you will help shape and execute the network strategy, with accountability for financial performance, operational improvement, and service quality. This role is ideal for a commercially minded leader who thrives in a healthcare environment and is driven by delivering strong operational outcomes alongside exceptional patient care.

What You’ll Do

In this role, you will play a key leadership role across a complex hospital network, partnering closely with the CEO and Executive Team to drive strategic, operational, and financial performance while ensuring the delivery of high-quality, safe, and efficient healthcare services.

Key accountabilities include:

  • Provide strategic and operational leadership across hospital and corporate service functions.
  • Partner with the CEO and Executive Team to develop and deliver the network strategy.
  • Drive financial performance, including budget management, cost control and capital planning.
  • Lead and develop senior leaders across clinical and non-clinical corporate services.
  • Improve operational efficiency and service delivery across both hospital sites.
  • Strengthen governance, risk management and compliance frameworks.
  • Support growth and activity through catchment planning and service optimisation.
  • Build a high-performance culture focused on accountability, collaboration and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure alignment between corporate services and hospital operations to support frontline clinical care.
  • Act as a key advisor to the CEO on operational, financial and strategic matters.

You will be comfortable operating across both strategic and hands-on execution. Key skills and experience include:

  • Proven experience in senior leadership roles across multi-site operations.
  • Strong commercial acumen with demonstrated success in financial and operational performance.
  • Experience managing large, diverse teams across operational and corporate functions.
  • Strong understanding of governance, risk management and compliance frameworks.
  • Ability to influence and partner effectively with executives, clinicians and operational leaders.
  • Strong capability in driving operational improvement and leading change.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement and decision-making skills.
  • A leadership style that builds capability, accountability and engagement across teams.
