We are seeking an experienced and motivated Maritime Team Leader to develop and grow our maritime engineering capability across Ireland and Northern Ireland. Ideally based in Dublin, with flexibility for candidates located in Cork or Belfast, this is an exciting opportunity for an established maritime professional to combine technical leadership, project delivery and business development while playing a central role in strengthening our regional presence.

You will lead a diverse portfolio of maritime and port-related projects, working with clients across the island of Ireland and collaborating with colleagues across our wider business. The role provides an opportunity to develop long-term client relationships, pursue new market opportunities and deliver infrastructure that supports trade, energy transition, coastal resilience and economic development.

The Role

As Maritime Team Leader, you will take responsibility for the technical, operational and commercial development of our maritime and coastal engineering activities across Ireland and Northern Ireland.

Working collaboratively with colleagues across our wider business, you will lead project delivery, develop client relationships and identify opportunities to expand our portfolio of maritime work.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Team Leadership and Growth: Develop and lead a growing maritime engineering team, creating a supportive environment that encourages technical excellence, professional development and collaboration.
• Business Development: Drive the growth of our maritime business across Ireland and Northern Ireland by developing client relationships, identifying new opportunities and contributing to strategic market development.
• Project Delivery: Lead and oversee maritime engineering projects from feasibility and concept development through to detailed design, procurement and construction support.
• Technical Leadership: Provide technical direction and assurance across projects involving ports, harbours, quaysides, breakwaters, marine terminals and waterfront infrastructure.
• Client Relationships: Establish and maintain strong relationships with port operators, developers, public sector organisations and other maritime stakeholders.
• Commercial Management: Support project financial performance, prepare fee proposals and contribute to successful tender submissions and framework opportunities.
• Multidisciplinary Collaboration: Work closely with coastal, civil, structural, geotechnical, environmental and planning specialists to deliver integrated engineering solutions.
• Regional Market Development: Develop an understanding of the maritime infrastructure needs, investment priorities and emerging opportunities across Ireland and Northern Ireland.
• People Development: Recruit, mentor and develop engineers, supporting the creation of a sustainable and capable regional maritime team.
• Innovation and Sustainability: Promote engineering approaches that support decarbonisation, climate resilience and the long-term adaptability of maritime infrastructure.

Regional Focus

Ireland and Northern Ireland offer significant opportunities for maritime infrastructure development, driven by port investment, offshore renewable energy, trade, industrial development and climate adaptation.

Based ideally in Dublin, with Cork and Belfast also considered, you will support our engagement with clients and stakeholders across the region. You will contribute to projects that may include:

• Commercial and industrial port developments.
• Offshore wind and renewable energy port infrastructure.
• Port expansion and terminal development.
• Quayside rehabilitation and marine structures.
• Harbours, fishing ports and ferry infrastructure.
• Breakwaters and coastal protection.
• Waterfront regeneration and maritime masterplanning.
• Infrastructure supporting the energy transition and decarbonisation.

The role will require an understanding of the maritime infrastructure market across the island of Ireland, including the opportunities, technical challenges and investment priorities affecting ports and coastal infrastructure.

You will also work collaboratively with our wider UK and international teams, bringing together specialist expertise and supporting the delivery of projects across geographic boundaries.

About You

You will be an experienced maritime engineering professional with a strong combination of technical expertise, project delivery experience and leadership capability.

You are likely to demonstrate:

• A degree in Civil Engineering, Maritime Engineering or a related discipline.
• Chartered Engineer status with Engineers Ireland, ICE, IStructE or an equivalent professional institution.
• Significant experience delivering maritime infrastructure projects within a consultancy, contractor or client-side environment.
• Strong understanding of port infrastructure, marine structures, quaysides, breakwaters and associated civil engineering works.
• Experience managing multidisciplinary teams and delivering projects through different stages of development.
• A proven ability to develop client relationships and contribute to business growth.
• Commercial awareness, including experience in fee proposals, project financial management and tendering.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience mentoring, developing and motivating engineering teams.
• An understanding of the Irish and Northern Irish maritime markets, their clients and infrastructure challenges.
• A proactive and collaborative approach to leadership and problem-solving.

Experience working with port operators, offshore wind developers, public sector clients or other maritime infrastructure stakeholders would be advantageous.
