Job Description

Project Engineer

Malmö, Sweden

We are looking for a structured and proactive project engineer with a technical engineering background to support the delivery of complex energy and industrial projects. The role will work closely with the Project Manager and multidisciplinary engineering teams, helping to keep project activities coordinated, plans maintained and technical interfaces actively managed.

This position is well suited to someone who already has experience from engineering projects and project management assistant roles. The role requires strong coordination skills, practical planning capability and the ability to communicate effectively with both technical specialists and project stakeholders.

If this sounds like you, or you’re curious to learn more, then this role could be the perfect opportunity. Join us as our new Project Engineer and work with us to close the gap to a sustainable future.

Your new role

The role provides broad exposure to project execution, engineering coordination, planning, governance and stakeholder management in major energy and industrial projects. It offers a strong development path towards future roles in project management, project controls, PMO leadership or interface management.

Your key responsibilities will be:

  • Support the Project Manager in the day-to-day coordination and follow-up of energy, industrial and infrastructure projects.
  • Coordinate activities across engineering disciplines, project stakeholders, contractors and clients, with a strong focus on technical interfaces, dependencies and required decisions.
  • Maintain and follow up project plans and schedules in Microsoft Project, including milestones, ownership, dependencies and agreed actions.
  • Monitor progress against the project plan and highlight risks, delays, resource constraints and critical interfaces.
  • Prepare and coordinate project status updates, action logs, steering committee input and management reporting material.
  • Follow up actions and decisions from project meetings, workshops and interface reviews, ensuring owners, deadlines and next steps are clearly recorded.
  • Support risk, issue and change management by keeping registers updated, documenting key items and escalating matters requiring project leadership attention.
  • Coordinate permitting activities where relevant, including follow-up of permit requirements, interfaces with authorities and utility easement processes.
  • Support Project Management Office activities such as governance, document follow-up, stakeholder coordination and project controls coordination.
  • Act as a practical coordination point between project leadership, engineering teams and external stakeholders.

About you

We are looking for someone who is organised, communicative and comfortable working in a technical project environment. You take ownership of follow-up activities, structure information clearly and help project teams stay aligned on priorities, responsibilities and deadlines.

You do not need to be a fully independent Project Manager, but you should have the confidence and discipline to support project leadership, challenge unclear ownership and drive practical coordination across interfaces. You are motivated by project delivery and interested in developing further within project management, planning and PMO disciplines.

Required qualifications and experience:

  • Degree in Engineering or a similar technical discipline.
  • Experience from industrial, energy, power, renewable energy, hydrogen, process plant or other large technical projects.
  • Experience supporting Project Managers or working as Project Engineer, Project Coordinator or PMO Assistant.
  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft Project for planning and schedule follow-up.
  • Experience with technical interfaces, multidisciplinary coordination or engineering delivery follow-up.
  • Good understanding of project management principles, planning, reporting and governance processes.
  • Fluent Swedish and English, both written and spoken.
  • Ability to work regularly from the Malmö office, approximately half of the working time.

Preferred experience

  • Experience from Engineering, Procurement and Construction Management, Project Management Consultancy or Owner's Engineer project environments.
  • Exposure to project controls and planning, change management, progress reporting and PMO activities.
  • Experience preparing project reports, decision material, meeting minutes, presentation input or client-facing project updates.
  • Experience working in international or multidisciplinary project teams.

What we can offer you

  • Commitment to your development
  • Leaders guided by our Leadership Principles
  • A culture that welcomes you as the unique person you are
  • Inspiration from colleagues, clients, and projects
  • The long-term thinking of a foundation-owned company
  • Flexible working environment with the possibility of working from home a few days a week
  • Private health and life insurance
  • Wellness benefit contribution of up to 4.000 SEK/year
  • Projects that aren’t just technically intensive, but where you will also contribute to making a real difference
