Job Description
Are you an experienced Construction Health & Safety Lead with a strong track record in delivering health and safety leadership across major infrastructure programmes? You will lead the development and implementation of health and safety strategies across nationally significant D&B infrastructure projects in Ireland including metro, aviation, rail, water and highway schemes.

Your new role
As Construction Health & Safety Lead, you will be responsible for leading all health and safety activities across major infrastructure projects in Ireland. You will establish and drive a proactive safety culture, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements and industry best practice across all phases of delivery.
You will act as the primary health and safety advisor to project leadership, working closely with contractors, designers and stakeholders to ensure risks are effectively managed and that safe systems of work are embedded throughout the project lifecycle.
Working pattern
Hybrid role requiring office and site attendance as required, with a majority of projects delivered in and around Dublin.
Your key responsibilities will be:
Leading the development and implementation of project-wide health and safety strategies, plans and procedures
Ensuring compliance with health and safety legislation, regulations and project-specific requirements
Acting as the key health and safety advisor to project teams, providing expert guidance and support
Monitoring contractor health and safety performance through audits, inspections and reporting
Reviewing and approving risk assessments, method statements and construction phase plans
Promoting a strong safety culture and behavioural safety approach across all project activities
Identifying, assessing and mitigating health and safety risks throughout design and construction phases
Supporting the integration of health and safety considerations into design (e.g. design risk management / CDM principles)
Leading incident investigation processes and ensuring lessons learned are implemented
Coordinating with stakeholders, regulators and third parties on health and safety matters
Ensuring effective reporting, governance and assurance of health and safety performance
Driving continuous improvement and adoption of best practice in health and safety management
About you
Significant experience in construction health and safety roles on major infrastructure or construction projects (e.g. metro, aviation, rail, water and highways schemes)
Strong knowledge of health and safety legislation and regulatory requirements (Ireland or comparable jurisdictions)
Proven ability to lead health and safety across complex, multi-disciplinary project environments
Experience working with contractors to manage and improve health and safety performance on site
Strong understanding of construction processes, risks and safe systems of work
Experience in undertaking audits, inspections and incident investigations
Ability to influence, challenge and engage stakeholders at all levels to drive safety outcomes
Excellent communication and leadership skills, with a proactive and collaborative approach
Experience supporting design-stage health and safety risk management
Proactive, organised and able to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment
Degree or equivalent qualification in health and safety, engineering, construction or a related discipline
Membership of Institution of Occupational Safety & Health or equivalent
