Modelmaking intern

  • Full-time

Job Description

We are looking for a Modelmaking Intern to join our Modelshop in the Copenhagen studio in September 2026!

The internship will start in September and last for 6–12 months. This internship in our model workshop is meant to enrich your studies, and we can only accept applicants who are currently enrolled as students.

Why do we need you?
In today’s fast-paced world, craftsmanship is essential. As designers, we are committed to creating spatial solutions that translate concepts into tangible and tactile experiences.

From making quick sketch models to high-quality presentation models and exploring biomaterials and unconventional techniques, modelmaking allows us to test, evaluate and communicate ideas while discovering innovative methods and materials.

In our Modelshop in Copenhagen, physical models are key tools in our continuous journey of experimentation, refining our craft, expanding our capabilities and deepening our understanding of what makes design truly meaningful.

What will you be doing?
As a Modelshop intern, you will contribute to our research on improving the circularity of the modelmaking process and exploring innovative and bio-based materials for modelmaking.

You will create architectural models for design concept studies, competitions or exhibitions around the world. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams within the office and communicate daily on their design development. As part of the team, you will assist in exploring ideas and concepts through physical models. You will experiment daily, find creative solutions and often try out unconventional techniques.

You will be working with laser cutting, 3D printing, mold making and casting, woodworking and hard tools, upcycled and biobased materials.

Additionally, you will assist with the general maintenance of machinery and maintain a tidy and organized workshop, ensuring efficiency and safety.

What are we looking for?
We’re seeking a curious, creative, and team-oriented individual with a passion for model making and strong hand skills.

The ideal candidate should:

  • Work with precision, patience and a keen eye for detail
  • Be able to work independently, proactively and taking initiative
  • Have experience with 3D modeling in Rhino (Grasshopper is a plus)
  • Take responsibility for tasks and consistently meet deadlines
  • Embrace learning opportunities and be willing to experiment

What are we offering?
Joining Henning Larsen, you can expect:

  • To work alongside skilled professionals on award-winning, internationally minded projects.
  • Exposure to a wide range of specialists and high professional standards in a collaborative culture.
  • A 6–12 month paid internship with competitive remuneration and local employee benefits.
  • A creative studio environment with a strong social culture (Culture Club, Friday bars in Copenhagen) and opportunities for professional development and potential further employment.

How do you apply?
Submit your application, portfolio (max 10 MB) and CV as three separate PDF documents on or before 15 June. You do not need a perfectly formal cover letter - tell us about your motivation, how your qualities fit the position, and why you want an internship at the Modelshop of Henning Larsen.

Please note that interviews will be conducted on an ongoing basis. If you have questions, please contact [email protected].
