- Full-time
Company Description
Job Description
BIM Modeller
High-rise & Complex Buildings | Penang, Malaysia
What if your models were the reason a 60-storey tower stood without compromise?
At Ramboll, BIM is not a deliverable. It is how we think, coordinate and build intelligence into every project from day one. If you are driven by precision, energised by collaboration and want your work to shape the built environment at scale, this role is for you.
High-rise buildings, done well, are one of the most powerful tools we have for building sustainable, liveable cities. With more than 300 tall building projects globally, our High-rise & Complex Buildings team integrates structural, MEP, facade, digital and sustainability expertise from concept to completion, because the relationship between a building's structure and its services is where real value is won or lost. Data-driven, computationally advanced, and benchmarked against decades of global experience, we design with purpose for the people and cities that need these buildings to perform for generations. If you want work that genuinely challenges you, this is where you come.
The role
As BIM Modeller within our High-Rise & Complex Buildings team, you will be the digital backbone of multi-disciplinary project delivery. Based in Penang and embedded within our Civil/Structural Engineering and SMART Buildings teams, you will produce, manage and coordinate BIM models across a portfolio of high-impact projects spanning multiple sectors across Asia.
This is a role for someone who takes ownership. You will work alongside architects, structural and MEP engineers, and digital specialists, making sure that models are not just accurate, but genuinely useful to everyone who relies on them.
How you will contribute
BIM modelling and coordination
- Develop and maintain detailed 3D models across architectural, structural, mechanical and electrical disciplines using Autodesk Revit and other BIM platforms
- Lead interdisciplinary clash detection and coordination, resolving discrepancies before they reach site
- Manage and evolve BIM libraries, families and templates to keep modelling efficient and consistent across the team
Information and data management
- Integrate project data, specifications and documentation into the model to support accurate visualisation and structured data sharing
- Maintain clear version control and comprehensive records of model changes, updates and revisions throughout the project lifecycle
Documentation and deliverables
- Extract high-quality 2D drawings, plans, sections and elevations from 3D models for construction documentation and coordination
- Contribute to the development and implementation of BIM Execution Plans and project-level BIM standards
Quality and technical support
- Run regular quality audits on models to ensure accuracy, consistency and compliance with industry standards
- Provide hands-on technical support to project teams, resolving BIM challenges efficiently and pragmatically
Qualifications
- A degree in Civil or Structural Engineering, or equivalent professional background
- Solid hands-on proficiency in Autodesk Revit; familiarity with ArchiCAD or Bentley MicroStation is a plus
- Working knowledge of the AEC industry, with a clear understanding of how BIM integrates across design, construction and operations
- Exposure to structural analysis tools such as SAP2000, STAAD Pro or Robot is advantageous
- Familiarity with SketchUp, AutoCAD, E20 and MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Project)
- A detail-oriented, proactive approach and the ability to manage multiple priorities across concurrent projects
