You will join the Automation and Communication department at Ramboll Chennai. As a Senior OT Security Engineer, you will work within a high‑performing global engineering environment, collaborating closely with expert teams in Denmark and our global engineering centres.

Our department delivers world‑class engineering and consulting services for global energy sector projects. Focus areas include OT Cybersecurity, Telecom, Networks, Instrumentation, and Automation across all project phases—from concept and feasibility studies to detailed engineering, EPC, follow‑on engineering, and owner’s engineer services.

This position requires strong knowledge of Operational Technology (OT) security, industrial control systems, network security, and implementation of cybersecurity frameworks. You will support global projects, contribute to secure architecture development, and ensure cybersecurity best practices in OT environments.

Job Description

  • Design, implement, and maintain OT cybersecurity controls to protect industrial systems from cyber threats.
  • Work with Industrial Control Systems (ICS) technologies including:

    • Distributed Control Systems (DCS)

    • SCADA Systems

    • Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC)

    • Human Machine Interface (HMI)

  • Conduct risk assessments and vulnerability assessments for operational technology environments.

  • Implement and configure security solutions such as:

    • Firewalls

    • Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS)

    • Access control mechanisms

    • Network segmentation architectures

  • Apply cybersecurity frameworks and standards such as:

    • IEC 62443

    • NIST Cybersecurity Framework

    • NERC CIP

    • ISO 27001

  • Work with industrial communication protocols including BACnet, Modbus, PROFINET, and PROFIBUS.

  • Support and secure communication networks including LAN, WAN, Wi-Fi, IoT networks, radio communication systems, and CCTV infrastructure.

  • Manage and support Windows-based environments including Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, RAS, WSUS, and Group Policies.

  • Manage virtualized environments and support troubleshooting using VMware or Microsoft Hypervisor platforms.

  • Implement and support backup and recovery technologies in OT environments.

  • Deploy host-based security solutions such as antivirus, DLP, host intrusion prevention systems, and application whitelisting.

  • Monitor emerging cybersecurity threats and recommend improvements to OT security architecture.

  • Provide technical guidance on OT cybersecurity policies, procedures, and best practices.

  • Collaborate with internal engineering teams, vendors, and external stakeholders to ensure secure OT system implementation.

Technical Skills

  • Strong understanding of Industrial Control Systems (ICS) and SCADA architectures.

  • Knowledge of OT protocols and standards including:

    • Modbus

    • DNP3

    • IEC 61850

    • OPC

  • Experience designing and implementing OT security architectures.

  • Experience with network segmentation strategies for OT environments.

  • Familiarity with IEC 62443 cybersecurity standards for industrial communication networks.

  • Knowledge of NIST Cybersecurity Framework and general cybersecurity best practices.

  • Experience with firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and access control technologies.

  • Experience with virtualization platforms such as VMware or Microsoft Hypervisor.

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electronics Engineering, Electrical & Instrumentation , Cyber Security Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related engineering discipline.

Experience

  • 5–7 years of experience for Engineer level roles.

  • 7–10 years of experience for Senior Engineer roles.

  • Experience working with cybersecurity in Operational Technology (OT) or Industrial Control System (ICS) environments.

  • Experience supporting energy, industrial automation, or infrastructure projects is preferred.

Soft Skills

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

  • Ability to work in multi-disciplinary global engineering teams.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.

  • Ability to collaborate with stakeholders and vendors on cybersecurity requirements.

  • Danish language skills are an added advantage but not mandatory.
