Your new role

As our new Consultant you will be part of our biogas and waste-to-X team in Copenhagen (Ørestad office) with technical experts and project managers. You will participate feasibility studies, due diligences, design and implementation of large complex biogas projects as well as in gasification, pyrolysis and fermentation projects.

Job Description

Join Ramboll’s Biogas and Waste-to-X team and bring your technical expertise to impactful client projects in the growing bioenergy sector. As part of our Energy Division, you will contribute to projects focused on biogas, biomethane, and other waste-to-X technologies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop process designs, layouts, mass and energy balances, and process flow diagrams for new biogas/biomethane plants.

  • Conduct technical due diligence of waste-to-X technologies such as gasification, pyrolysis, and hydrothermal liquefaction (HTL).

  • Provide expert advice to clients on feedstock mix and selection, plant expansion, biogas upgrading, digestate handling, and sustainability practices.

  • Advise investors and financial stakeholders on technical aspects of business cases, plant performance, optimization opportunities, CAPEX/OPEX, and future investment requirements.

  • Monitor market trends, regulatory changes, and policy developments in the bioenergy and waste-to-X sectors.

  • Support feasibility studies, concept development, basic engineering, tender document preparation, procurement, contract negotiation, construction monitoring, commissioning, and performance follow-up for biogas/biomethane production plants as well as sorting plants and waste-to-X facilities.

  • Contribute to technical knowledge development through active participation in internal technical competence teams and project work.

Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you should have the following qualifications and attributes:

  • A degree (BSc or MSc) in chemical, biological, energy, process, or mechanical engineering.

  • Knowledge of biogas/biomethane production processes, including feedstock logistics, digestate management, and sustainability standards.

  • Interest in waste-to-resource processes, including the transformation of waste into fuels, chemicals, and materials.

  • Strong communication skills to interact effectively with colleagues, clients, and contractors.

  • Proficiency in conveying complex technical content in both written and verbal formats to diverse audiences, including non-technical stakeholders.

  • Willingness and interest in domestic and international business travel.
