Job Description

The Telecoms Support Engineer will work as part of Telcom’s Technology & Data team, providing day-to-day support for business voice and data services. This role is ideal for someone with a foundation in IT or telecoms who wants to build experience across PBX, VoIP, and networking technologies in a hands-on environment. 
 
You’ll assist senior engineers with installations, troubleshooting, and maintenance across Avaya, 3CX, and Microsoft Teams systems, as well as network routers, switches, and firewalls in customer and Telcom environments. 

 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Support installation and configuration of PBX and VoIP systems (Avaya IP Office, 3CX, Teams). 
  • Assist in setting up SIP trunks, call routing, and number management. 
  • Provide first- and second-line support for customer voice and data issues. 
  • Monitor network and voice service performance, escalating complex issues where required. 
  • Perform routine checks, firmware updates, and backups. 
  • Maintain accurate records of network and system changes. 
  • Collaborate with senior engineers during project rollouts, migrations, and customer site work. 
  • Participate in training programs and vendor certification paths. 
  • Managing UG portal for WLR management and port-in / port-out operations. 

Qualifications

  • 1–2 years’ experience in an IT, telecoms, or network support role. 
  • Basic understanding of IP networking, SIP, VLANs, and routing concepts. 
  • Familiarity with VoIP systems or PBXs (experience with Avaya, 3CX, or Teams an advantage). 
  • Some hands-on experience with routers, switches, or firewalls (Cisco, Mikrotik, DrayTek, etc.). 
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. 
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities. 
  • Eager to learn and progress within a growing telecoms and managed services environment. 

Desirable Certifications 

  • CompTIA Network+ or equivalent foundation certification. 
  • 3CX Basic or Intermediate certification. 
  • Avaya or Microsoft Teams Voice fundamentals (training support provided).

Working Conditions:
