 About the Role 

Are you a dedicated dog enthusiast with a knack for understanding canine behaviour?

We're on the hunt for a Dog Behaviour Trainer to join our team on a casual basis!

As part of the Greyhounds as Pet (GAP) team in Southern River, your duties include but are not limited to:

  • Conducting behaviour assessments of greyhounds in accordance with Greyhounds as Pets (GAP) standards, internal protocols, and green collar testing procedures 
  • Develop and implement behaviour modification plans for greyhounds 
  • Provide behaviour advice and support to foster carers and adoptive owners  
  • Develop, coordinate, and assist in GAP programmes with a focus on greyhound behaviour initiatives

Qualifications

About You 

We're seeking individuals who have:

  • Understanding of greyhounds and knowledge of the racing industry (desirable)
  • A qualification in Canine training or Animal Behaviour (desirable)
  • Experience in shelter environments (desirable)
  • Experience in canine behaviour management including preparing, implementing, and adapting canine behaviour modification programs. 
  • Experience in canine training using positive reinforcement and balanced training techniques.  
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal with demonstrated abilities maintaining positive relationships with internal and external customers 
  • Demonstrated experience working effectively in a team and initiative to develop, improve or learn new skills in dog training 
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in the execution of work 
  • Available to work outside of normal business days/hours where required 
  • Well-developed computer literacy skills within the Microsoft Office/Windows Environment  
  • Current ‘C’ class driver’s licence
