Job Description

We are seeking a motivated professional with an high standard work ethic to join our WA team as a Senior Investigator as we continue to expand! 

Your day is designed by you - this role offers a unique opportunity for variety and autonomy over your working day! You will be required to attend various locations, predominantly within the Perth Metropolitan area with a proportion of work across Western Australia as required. 

As a Senior Investigator you will be motivated to mentor junior investigators in the business as part of your role, offering your knowledge and expertise in investigations to enable them to develop their investigations career! 

Duties will include:

  • Maintain and uphold fair racing in Western Australia and enforce the industry’s integrity standards as empowered by the Rules of Racing of the three Codes
  • Investigate or cause to be investigated any matter as directed or agreed by the GMRI or Code Chief Stewards of matters arising from the three codes of racing and wagering and present concise reports and evidence relating to these investigations.
  • Carry out or cause to be carried out race day inquiries to detect illegal activity, including stable inspections, interview of licensed persons and providing a policing presence in the bookmakers’ ring, other betting areas and the racecourse as required
  • Liaise with WAPOL and other external agencies as required in relation to investigative matters, surveillance or other matters concerning Statutory Laws of Western Australia
  • Liaise with the media and be available for interviews and commentary on racing matters. 

 

Qualifications

What you need 

  • Initiative, discretion and judgement to enable the management and resolution of racing issues and problems.
  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Exceptional  communication, negotiating and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to write comprehensive reports and briefs of evidence suitable for presentation in judicial proceedings both internal and external.
  • Experience as a Racing Steward or Policing background would be highly regarded
