Job Description
RRS Group & Co. is seeking a motivated and technically curious IT Systems Administrator Intern to support our Information Technology team across endpoint management, identity and access management, networking, hardware administration, and IT operations. This internship provides hands-on exposure to enterprise IT systems while working alongside experienced Systems Administrators on day-to-day operations and technology projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with device imaging, configuration, provisioning, and deployment for new-hire onboarding using MDM platforms such as Jamf, Microsoft Intune, or Kandji.
- Support user onboarding and offboarding activities, including account provisioning, access changes, and deprovisioning through identity platforms such as Google Workspace, Okta, or Microsoft Entra ID.
- Troubleshoot Level 1 and Level 2 connectivity issues, including Wi-Fi, VPN, DNS, DHCP, and basic VLAN-related issues, escalating complex incidents to Systems Administrators as appropriate.
- Assist with hardware and IT asset management, including inventory tracking, asset tagging, equipment assignments, lifecycle documentation, and reconciliation.
- Support the maintenance and troubleshooting of conference room AV technology, including displays, video conferencing systems, microphones, speakers, and related equipment.
- Create and maintain Helpdesk documentation, technical procedures, runbooks, and knowledge base articles to improve IT support consistency and knowledge sharing.
- Assist with SaaS administration, endpoint management, identity and access management, and other IT operations.
- Collaborate with full-time IT Systems Administrators on technology projects, process improvements, system implementations, and security initiatives.
- Follow established IT security, access-control, asset-management, and data-protection procedures.
Qualifications
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, Cybersecurity, or a related technical field.
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
- Foundational knowledge of operating systems, including macOS, Windows, and/or Linux. Coursework, laboratory experience, projects, or personal technical experience may be considered.
- Basic understanding of networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, Wi-Fi, VPNs, and basic VLAN concepts.
- Familiarity with common productivity, collaboration, and cloud-based technologies.
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to document technical issues and communicate solutions clearly to technical and non-technical users.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to protecting company systems, data, and user access.
Preferred Qualifications
- Exposure to Jamf, Microsoft Intune, Kandji, Okta, Microsoft Entra ID, Google Workspace, or similar enterprise platforms.
- Experience with hardware deployment, computer configuration, IT asset management, or Helpdesk support.
- Familiarity with scripting or automation using PowerShell, Bash, Python, or similar technologies.
- Basic understanding of cybersecurity principles, endpoint security, authentication, and access management.
- Previous internship, campus IT, Helpdesk, lab, or technical project experience.
