Job Description

The Desktop Administrator’s role is to analyze and resolve end user hardware and software computer problems in a timely and accurate fashion, provide end user training where required. Conduct hardware evaluations. Conduct vendor management (works closely with vendors on roadmaps for their products, pricing and issues). Conduct updates, security patches, testing, and planning for next versions of desktop software (MS Office, MS Operating System, etc.). This also includes, purchasing, planning, developing, installing, configuring, maintaining, supporting and optimizing all desktop, laptop, phone and printer hardware and software. The person will also help the network administrator as necessary to support the servers and network configuration.


Position Responsibilities


• Planning for future desktop and laptop hardware/Software acquisitions, including purchasing and price negotiations, consulting with users to determine hardware and software needs.

• Administer Network end user accounts. Create new user accounts.  

• Manage access privileges of end users and maintain appropriate levels of security for various network resources.

• Develop and implement environment monitoring to ensure compliance with licensing, security, and configuration requirements.

• Develop and implement approved standards, policies, processes, and procedures that ensure stable, secure, and cost effective end user computing environment.

• Develop and implement test and management processes for software deployment packages.

• Develop distribution packages to install software for desktop and laptop computers.

• Develop and maintain the ticket tracking system and asset inventory system.

• Conduct testing, troubleshooting and maintain the PC’s, Printers, and Phones.

• Work with vendors on warranty registration and replacements.

• Telecommunications support for VoIP network. Including installation of phones and programming new user features.

• Assist Network Administrator with Server and Network Management.

• Respond to user’s needs in a prompt, courteous, professional manner.

• Establish and maintain effective professional working relationship with co-workers, and every level of management.

Qualifications

• Associates Degree in IT or related experience.

• Experience with IBM or compatible microcomputers

• Prefer experience with Win2K3 networks.

• Prior experience supporting Microsoft Windows-compatible software applications in a networked environment.

• Prefer basic familiarity with Microsoft Office 2003 and 2007 and/or other Microsoft desktop applications.

• Prior experience that involved significant customer and end-user interaction.

• Analytical and problem-solving skills

• Demonstrated aptitude for learning new technologies.

• Strong Interpersonal Skills.
