Job Description

RP Pro Services is hiring a Network Engineer for our DHS customer located in Washington DC. As the Network Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and deploying network solutions for our customer. You will white board and present customized solutions to support the customer’s migrations needs, while ensuring network and load balancing requirements are being met. Furthermore, you will assist in completing engineering documentation required to implement and document network solutions as well as ensure peer reviews of network designs are conducted for quality assurance purposes.

Beyond designing the solution, you will also participate in implementations as needed to ensure customer solutions are delivered during in a timely manner. This could mean occasionally working within tight deadlines that have been determined by the client. Furthermore, you will need to be available for tier 3 on call support when major connectivity issues arise and the data center network staff needs additional expertise to troubleshoot, isolate, and solve connectivity issues. Lastly you will be responsible for supporting customer migrations onto the OC-192 replication circuit by working with the OneNet WAN team and the DC1 team.

The work location is Washington, DC area

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Support DHS migration to IPv6 solutions or to cloud solutions
  • Assist in developing Bill of Materials (BOM) with detailed part numbers required for capital budgeting and procurement requirements
  • Use best practice policies and procedures to address issues found by data center staff in order to avoid similar future issues – continuous improvement.
  • Interact with other IT and network project teams in a collaborative way to continuously improve; interact with external network vendors including Hardware and Software vendors
  • Resolve technical and/or project issues at the application level by interacting with application engineers.

Qualifications

Your Required Qualification:

  • US Citizenship
  • Active DHS EOD
  • At least 5 years of Network Engineering experience
  • Expertise of the DHS Trusted Internet Connection (TIC) functions, how it is put together and how to migrate customers into the TIC DMZ
  • Expertise of Cisco, Brocade, Infiniband, Juniper and HP switch topology or become familiar quickly upon arrival.
  • Expertise of F5 load balance principles and design criteria for government applications
  • Expertise Riverbed Steelhead WAN acceleration principles and design criteria
  • Expertise in Wide Area Network (WAN), Local Area Network (LAN), Trusted Internet Connection (TIC), network virtual switching, load balancing, and WAN acceleration design and implementation using Cisco, Brocade, Infiniband, Juniper, HP, VMware ESX 5.0 virtual switching.
