Job Description

As the Maintenance Field Engineer, you will be responsible for supporting the pre/post-sale Monitoring & Maintenance process, and the deployment engineering processes for the sale and deployment of advanced Distributed Antenna Systems (DAS) Wi-Fi, Point-to-Point and other communication systems for 13 medical facilities in and around the Minneapolis metro-area. You will utilize signal test equipment and software to conduct facility surveys in the areas of outdoor and indoor cellular, 2-way radio and Wi-Fi signal strength and path. You will also review installation specifications, along with owner requirements and manufacturer’s instructions, to determine and evaluate installation sites.

In this role you will be onsite at RF Connect's customer facilities and will report to the Field Engineering Supervisor. You should be able to work productively in a remote and independent setting and be within commuting distance of our customer sites in the Minneapolis metro-area.

What You'll Do (responsibilities)

  • Work with leadership in the direction, assignment, and completion of deployment engineering tasks for RF Connect’s pre and post sales DAS and general RF business for a customer in the Minneapolis Area.
  • Perform and fulfill the operation of project Warranty, Monitoring and Maintenance contract for a customer in the Minneapolis Area. 
  • Ensure Service Level Agreements (SLA) and delivery dates are met for the maintenance contract and RF deployment activities for a customer in the Minneapolis area.
  • Work with Tier 1 NOC Engineers to provide Tier 2 and Tier 3 support for customers in the Minneapolis area.
  • Provide pre-sales support by conducting site evaluations to assess coverage and facility conditions and DAS constructability as necessary. 
  • Collect and process data with mobile software and phones for both baseline benchmarking and post-DAS verification. 
  • Post-Install commissioning and optimization as required. 
  • Perform CW - RF path lost testing to validate system designs on customer premises.
  • Prepare and review BOMs as needed.
  • Document designs and follow-up with project support during the Deployment phase.
  • Perform on-site commissioning and optimization as needed.
  • Assist and help define best practices to ensure that RF Connect meets in maintenance Service Level Agreement(s) for our customers in the Minneapolis area.  The customer is a 24 x 7 x 365 critical needs operation.
  • Work with Project Managers to maintain and beat project budgets for services performed and deployments.
  • Ensure and audit quality workmanship on the Field Engineering Team.
  • Perform on-site site surveys to include constructability and RF benchmarking as required.
  • Balance competing requirements between projects, PMs, Sales, Maintenance SLAs, and find solutions to provide services while balancing business needs.
  • Potentially assist in finding subcontractors to flow down SLA agreements in the local market and completing agreements with them for delivery of Maintenance package support

Qualifications

Experience You Have

  • Previous experience in a telecommunications role and systems environment (RF, DAS, or Wireless)
  • Previous field experience in a complex technology and systems environment

Educational/Vocational Training You Have

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electronics or Computer Science (or related field), and/or equivalent experience/certifications
  • DAS – Commscope/Andrew, Corning/Mobile Access, JMA, ADRF, SOLID Certifications or equivalent preferred
  • iBwave, JDSU, Invex, or similar, AutoCAD preferred

Environmental/Physical Demands

  • Must be capable of lifting within regulatory limits
  • In accordance with customer site requirements, COVID vaccination may be required prior to entry.
  • This position operates in commercial construction sites, hospitals, and occupied commercial & government buildings. Some activities require the use of a ladder or lift and standing or walking for extended periods of time. When in the office uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, etc.
