Job Description

We seek an energetic and ambitious team-player as our new NOC Engineer, reporting to the VP of Operations and who is responsible for a mix of responsibilities including Tier 2 NOC support, Data Center Network and Server Administration, and Customer Network Staging and Configuration. This role will be responsible for the implementation, management, and troubleshooting of company and customer networks that rely on hardware and software. They will analyze the company’s needs and install and maintain the necessary hardware and software and solve problems or technical issues that may arise along the way. In this position, you will learn cellular network technology, architectures, and product lines.

You can be virtual (anywhere within the USA) and will report directly to the VP of Operations. You should be able to work productively in a remote and independent setting while being able to accommodate varying and unusual work hours related to the NOC role.

Job Responsibilities

  • Apply RF Connect standard processes throughout the design, fulfillment, and maintenance of network solutions
  • Document designs and as-builts for projects for use in future Preventative Managed Services and troubleshooting
  • Utilize Trouble Ticketing system working with our Partners and Customers and dispatch escalation process for Managed Services Support
  • Provide phone support as needed to customers, RF Connect employees, and subcontractors on RF Connect supported systems
  • Diagnose and correct issues up to Tier 2 for RF Connect technologies which include LAN/WAN transport networks, cellular core and radio networks, servers and applications.
  • Collaborate with Internal and External Network Operations Center (NOC) Customers in the day-to-day management of network solutions.
  • Perform network design and capacity planning.
  • Conduct research on network products, services, protocols, and standards in support of network procurement and development efforts.
  • Installs and maintains network file servers and network operating systems; ensures that backup copies of all files are routinely made and securely stored at separate location; maintains system documentation.
  • Installs, configures, and maintains multi-user software to be accessed from file servers.
  • Administer and maintain end user accounts, permissions, and access rights.
  • Installs, configures, and maintains network cabling and other networking equipment such as hubs, switches, and UPS.
  • Oversee installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of network connected end-user hardware, software, and peripheral devices
  • Manage security solutions, including firewall, anti-virus, and intrusion detection systems.
  • Orders software, hardware, and other supplies as required for networks, computers, and solutions

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering/Computer Science or related field, or an equivalent combination of experience and/or certifications
  • Cisco CCNA, CompTIA Network+, or Microsoft certifications in Windows Server and Windows Client a plus

Experience

  • Minimum 2-4 years successful in a Network Administration support role
  • Minimum 2-4 years successful in a role that includes Linux systems administration.
  • Experience with networking services and common networking and routing protocols
  • Technology proficiency and understanding of various types of hardware
  • Experience in cellular network technologies, products, and applications is a plus.
  • Previous experience or ability to quickly learn about Managed Services and monitoring systems and solutions, and ability to operate those solutions
  • Proven technical and relationship skills in a network administration role
  • Customer service and support in a 7x24x365 environment
  • Able to Work Independently or in cross functional groups.
  • Ability to grow and learn new network technologies.
  • Solid foundation in IP network technologies, products, and applications
  • Design, configuration, and management across varied TCP/IP LAN/WAN product lines.
  • Design, configuration, and management of Linux-based operating systems and servers, particularly as part of network infrastructures.
  • Knowledge in cellular network technologies, products, and applications is preferred.
  • Demonstrated organization skills, high level of attention to detail, and ability to meet deadlines

Physical Demands

  • Job requires occasionally positioning self in uncommon areas (including beneath/behind furniture or close to the floor) in order to connect cables and install equipment
  • Job requires capability of lifting within regulatory limits
