Job Description

As the Network Solutions Engineer, you will be responsible for all stages of communication initiatives for the Estimate Pricing tool and Customer Proposal with a focus on IT Wireless Networking and Private Networks, and will own and facilitate the process. You will be responsible for creating and disseminating complex technical information to external and internal customers in presentation and training formats. You will also develop relationships with customers, carriers, AHJ clients, vendors, and subcontractors. You will direct tasks, as well as oversee budgets, workflow and deliverables for multiple, complex proposals, and other duties as needed.

In this role you can be virtual and will report directly to the VP of Engineering.

What You'll Do (responsibilities)

  • Network Engineer and SME for private IP networking and infrastructure
  • Solution design, costing, and SME for private network eco-system, including backhaul, fronthaul, core, eNodeB, RAN, and 3rd party UE.
  • Translate business requirements into technical architecture and product solutions
  • Recognize potential improvement in areas of process, scalability, quality, performance, security and maintainability within the eco-system
  • Maintain close relations with key business stakeholders within both the Product Group and Chief Information Officer to ensure close alignment between market requirements, operational requirements and product solutions.
  • Manage, maintain and perform planning, estimating, proposal systems
  • Work with sales, engineers, and designers to develop estimates, proposals and processes
  • Interacts with co-workers, vendors, and representatives of other organizations to obtain and disseminate information, facilitate estimates and proposals, and provide assistance to sales and management staff
  • Interact with customer IT leaders to define problems, use cases, solutions for private wireless networks and network solution offerings
  • Responsible for creating and disseminating complex technical information to external and internal customers in presentation and training formats.
  • Evaluates new products and services from vendors and coordinates and/or participates in the development of training programs to improve the process
  • Review RFP specifications and validate compliance or exception while also ensuring the estimate and proposal includes any necessary cost, actions assumptions and exceptions
  • Maintain cost keys and price masters
  • Proactively measure and manage project revenue/ margin/profit objectives/hit rates
  • Collaborate with Sales Account Manager to prepare proposal plan that meets the objectives of the budget and timeline.
  • Distribute RFP documents for risk management review of any special requirements (legal, financial, logistics, safety, etc) and to all team members involved in the proposal and estimate preparation as required.
  • Determine best and most cost effective solution to RFP and response placement to win
  • Primary responsibility for preparation/review of the proposal write-ups.
  • Prepare initial assessment of the technical, financial, schedule or any other unusual risks associated with a proposal.
  • Monitor overall proposal costs and budgets and report metrics to senior management.
  • Collaborate with Product Development team to develop and evangelize new offerings to Sales and Operations teams

Qualifications

Experience You Have

  • Experience in one of the following Networking, IT, Facility, Wireless; Project Management & Finance experience helpful.
  • Significant hands-on experience with IT networking, systems and network troubleshooting, scripting (Python, VBscript), Splunk and operational monitoring tools.
  • Deep understanding of network protocols and services such as TCP/UDP, routing protocols and QoS.
  • Ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment, able to balance multiple projects and tasks, complete them successfully, and within timelines.
  • Able to translate between business requirements and the needs of the technical community in the form of Requirements specifications, architecture specifications and technical designs.
  • Technical knowledge from on IOT and Digitalisation preferred.
  • Creative thinker and problem solver, willing to keep options open for as long as productive analysis is occurring, within timelines appropriate for the needs of the business.
  • Experience in a business analyst/project management role in a complex technology and systems environment
  • Applied proposal management skills in a multi-project atmosphere
  • Demonstrated skills with management tools and methodologies, project lifecycle, and problem solving
  • Experience in Computer applications and databases
  • Demonstrated ability to lead project teams and meet deadlines
  • Bid management and construction management experience
  • Proven customer relationship skills
  • Experience meeting and exceeding targets for Revenue/Margin/Profit
  • Building/permit knowledge

Education/Vocational Training You Have

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering/Business or related field, or an equivalent combination of experience and/or certifications
  • IT Networking or related professional training and certifications a plus

Environmental/Physical Demands

  • Requires use of a computer and must be capable of lifting within regulatory limits
  • In accordance with customer site requirements, COVID vaccination may be required prior to entry.
