Job Description
We are seeking an Application Engineer to contribute to the design, the development and the evolution of our applications.
You will work mainly on :
- The corrective and evolutive maintenance of our webshop and our other digital channels
- The integration between our external applications and our ERP
- The end user support, to ensure smooth and efficient use of our solutions
Additionally, you will participate in defining the application architecture, in collaboration with the internal IT team, while keeping a hands on role as a developer/integrator.
Responsibilities:
Contribute to the design of application architecture based on business requirements.
Collaborate with development and infrastructure teams to ensure smooth integration of solutions.
Contribute to technology choices and propose technical improvements.
Create or update technical models and diagrams to describe solutions.
Help ensure compliance with security and performance best practices, based on internal standards.
Handle corrective and evolutive maintenance of the webshop, implementing both functional and technical improvements.
Provide support and helpdesk assistance to end users (issue analysis, solution proposals, escalation when needed).
Participate in the maintenance and evolution of interfaces between external applications, partners and our ERP system.
Qualifications
Education: Degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
Experience:
Around 3–5 years of experience in application development and/or integration.
First experience with application architecture or solution design is a plus.
Programming:
Good knowledge of at least Java as language.
Solid understanding of JSON and XML.
Basic knowledge of SQL (queries, data manipulation).
Integration & APIs:
Experience in building interfaces between systems.
Knowledge of REST APIs and service principles (microservices knowledge is a plus, not mandatory)
Database Experience:
Experience with at least one relational database (e.g. SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL).
Basic understanding of NoSQL is an advantage.
Cloud & Infrastructure (NTH):
Initial experience or strong interest in AWS or Azure.
Basic knowledge of containers (Docker) and/or virtualization.
Technologies & Tools (assets):
Knowledge of Apache tools (Tomcat, HTTP Server, Solr).
Basic understanding of cybersecurity (authentication, authorisation, encryption).
Interest in ERP environments (sales, invoicing, product/customer master data).
Familiarity with IBM i and/or RPGLE is a plus, not a requirement.
Systems & Tools:
Basic Linux knowledge.
Experience with Git or another version control system.
Awareness of HTTP/S, SFTP, AS2 protocols.
Awareness of SSL certificate management is a plus.
Languages:
Good command of at least one of the national languages (Dutch or French) and the ability to communicate in the other.
Working knowledge of English (written and spoken).
Soft Skills:
Team player, eager to learn and grow towards a more architectural role.
Strong analytical skills and ability to explain technical topics clearly to end users
Assets (NTH):
Experience in Agile environments (Scrum, Kanban).
Technical certifications (cloud, development, integration, etc.).
Strong interest in software architecture and ambition to grow into a senior architect role.
