Job Description
A nationally recognized engineering consulting firm seeks a surface water engineering intern in the Water Division in the Rapid City, South Dakota, office.
The firm specializes in the application of technology to solve problems. The successful candidate will work under the direction of multiple Project Managers in the areas of surface water modeling, data analysis, and general problem solving.
Qualifications
Required:
- Pursuing a bachelor's degree in civil, environmental, or a related science field
- Interest in assessing water quality challenges
- Strong computer skills; especially in using spreadsheets
- Experience or coursework with surface water modeling (e.g., HSPF, HEC-HMS, and/or WASP), geospatial analysis (e.g., ArcGIS), and computer programming (e.g., MATALB, Python, and/or R)
- Valid driver’s license and capability of doing field work
- Proven interpersonal skills and excellent oral and written communication skills
Additional Information
Compensation: Salary depends on experience and expertise plus statutory insurance requirements. The typical salary range for this position is $21 to $26 per hour.
Work Schedule: Temporary full-time position, 40 hours per week, during the Summer 2026 break.
