Job Description

The intern will be expected to work 40 hours a week during the summer.

Primary activities include specification writing, map creation, minor civil design work. Supplemental activities may involve field inventory of abandoned mine features, investigations, and surveying. The successful candidate will work under the direct supervision of experienced engineering staff in these areas. 

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have the following:

  • Must be working toward a bachelor of science or advanced degree in geological, mechanical, mining, civil engineering, or related field
  • Strong computer skills, especially in using finite element software, spreadsheets and structural analysis software are required 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, be able to communicate effectively in writing and orally, and be self-motivated.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds, ability to hike in mountainous areas, and familiarity with the use of all-terrain vehicles.

Additional Information

Compensation: Hourly wage depends on education and experience, range is $20-25/hour, plus statutory insurance requirements.
