Job Description
RESPEC is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to join our engineering team in Alaska! This position will help support the growing Infrastructure business unit on the RESPEC Alaska Team. The electrical engineers at RESPEC collaborate across multiple offices and design a wide range of innovative projects utilizing state-of-the-art technologies. Projects include power, lighting, signal, comms, and controls for recreational, commercial, military, educational, recreational, and industrial buildings, and may also include utility or transportation projects.
The Electrical Engineer will be a part of our growing Alaska team. The engineer’s electrical analysis and design experience will support new construction and rehabilitations/renovations in collaboration with architects and civil, mechanical, structural, and fire protection engineers. Interpreting building codes and standards, preparing electrical plans, details and specifications, and conducting related construction observations for RESPEC’s electrical projects—while applying technical knowledge to meet all stakeholder expectations—are key aspects of this position. The Electrical Engineer will work with fellow employee-owners in Alaska in expanding our practice in the contiguous United States.
Position Duties/Responsibilities
- Lead electrical projects as an Electrical Project Engineer
- Observe electrical construction on site
- Interpret drawings from architects or other engineering disciplines
- Participate in design progress meetings
- Analyze electrical systems using computer analysis programs
- Prepare electrical design calculations and related project documentation
- Prepare construction drawings and specifications
- Perform quality control reviews of designs and project electrical drawings
- Communicate project information
- Assist with preparation of electrical project proposals
- Prepare electrical technical sections of specifications
- Review electrical submittals
Qualifications
- B.S. in Electrical Engineering
- Professional Electrical Engineering registration
- Minimum 5 to 8 years of experience in electrical engineering
- Experience equivalent to ACEC Engineer Levels E-4 to E-7
- Solid knowledge of electrical system computer modeling programs
- Experience with preparing plans, specifications, and design calculations
- Self-motivated, energetic, and able to take on new tasks
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team
- Detail oriented and well organized with demonstrated ability to meet deadlines
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Desire to learn and advance in technical skills and understanding
- AutoCAD and/or Revit experience
Additional Preferred Experience/Skills:
- Project Management experience and/or Project Management Professional Certification
- Experience with review of electrical construction
- Interest in continued professional development
- Experience with airports and airfield lighting
- Experience with SKM or ETAP
- EE registration in Alaska
Additional Information
Compensation: Salary depends on experience and expertise. The typical salary range for this position is $100,000 to $150,000. Compensation includes a comprehensive fringe-benefits package. RESPEC is a 100 percent employee-owned company and employees are eligible for participation in the Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) after a qualifying period.
