Job Description
Senior Civil/Transportation Engineer is part of RESPEC’s Transportation Market Sector, a leader in civil and transportation engineering design services. The Senior Civil/Transportation Engineer will be responsible for developing and maintaining key relationships in Southeast Alaska, while preparing professional work products that include designing, planning, and preserving transportation systems to ensure the safe and efficient movement of people and goods. The successful candidate will also perform the following duties:
- Work on multiple projects simultaneously, proactively collaborating with team members and clients to resolve technical challenges.
- Supervise, mentor, and guide project design development with project engineers, staff engineers, and interns.
- Provide technical review of project designs, plan drawings, engineering reports, technical specifications, and other contract deliverables for feasibility, technical accuracy, and quality.
- Track project progress within established project scopes, budgets, and schedules and alert project managers of any issues that may affect them.
- Support other Alaska Infrastructure market sectors on design projects, as workload dictates.
- Prepare clear and concise written communications and participate in client and team meetings.
- Present design projects, as required, as part of public outreach to clients and the public.
- Conduct research and write technical portions of proposals to assist in bringing in new work.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering
- Alaska Professional Civil Engineer license
- 15+ years of civil engineering experience
- AutoCAD and Civil 3D experience
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365
- Ability to manage teams and contracts on multiple projects concurrently
- Detail-oriented and well-organized with demonstrated ability to meet deadlines
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and interpersonal and organizational abilities
Preferred Experience/Skills:
- Experience at large, multi-national, multi-disciplinary engineering consulting organizations
- Multi-jurisdictional experience and familiarity
- Strong leadership skills, attention to detail, and the capability to assess and organize priorities and work independently
- Ability to build and contribute to a positive team atmosphere
- Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines
