We’re looking for an experienced Senior Backend Engineer to join our SaaS platform team on an estimated 6-month contract as we continue to develop the first-of-its-kind quality and regulatory intelligence (QRI) platform for the life science industry.

The ideal candidate will possess strong backend development skills as an individual contributor, with experience mentoring junior developers and driving best practices while ensuring high-quality technical deliverables for the team.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deploy scalable backend services, components, and APIs for our SaaS platform
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to analyze requirements and translate them into robust backend solutions
• Lead and participate in code reviews, architecture discussions, and performance optimizations
• Mentor and guide team members by sharing best practices, technical insights, and industry trends

• Strong proficiency in Python and SQL
• Experience designing, building, and deploying cloud-scale applications and microservices architectures
• 8+ years of hands-on experience with object-oriented and/or functional programming
• Deep understanding of algorithms, data structures, and Big-O complexity analysis
• Proficiency in Test-Driven Development (TDD) and modern testing frameworks
• Hands-on experience in API development (REST, WebSockets, GraphQL, etc.)
• Practical experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and containerization technologies
• Strong grasp of software design patterns and engineering best practices
• Experience with relational databases such as MySQL or PostgreSQL
• Familiarity with AWS Cloud services and cloud-based infrastructure
• Exposure to modern cloud data warehouses like Snowflake (or similar technologies)
• BS/MS in Computer Science or a related field (or equivalent experience)
