Job Description

 

Why Intern with REBA?
REBA is driving towards a zero-carbon energy future. REBA Interns gain essential professional skills and experience in a non-profit trade association while working alongside a world-class team. They gain both the birds-eye view of how system change can be accomplished and understand the daily tasks and activities which ensure its realization. They learn about renewable energy including how corporations across all sectors, like Google, General Motors, and Citi are shifting the energy system, while building professional skills across a diverse range of topics. 

Internship Structure

·        Compensation: Graduate-level positions pay $20 per hour.  Undergraduate-level positions pay $15 per hour

·        Benefits:  Most intern positions are not eligible for benefits except for paid sick leave related to covid-19

·        Educational credit:  Eligibility for credit is determined by your educational institution

·        Schedule: 20 hours/week.  Weekly schedule is flexible and will be determined with your supervisor

·        Location: Our office location is 1425 K St NW, Washington, DC.  However, these positions can be performed remotely from any U.S. location with reliable internet access

·        Term: 3 months, with possibility to extend based on performance and availability

·        Start Date:  Any time between 9/1/20 and 10/31/20 with flexibility based on intern availability

·        Internship Content: Interns work directly in one or more of REBA’s programs and quickly become an essential part of the team. They work with an Intern Supervisor who supports daily work, and an Intern Mentor who ensures a positive experience and continual growth. Interns will identify 2-4 key objectives which they intend to meet throughout the course of the internship, agreed upon by their Supervisor

 

 

REBA Program Areas:

·        Education and Engagement – The E&E team helps member organizations learn and grow their ability to accelerate clean energy transactions through fundamental educational resources like primers, case studies, deep-dive technical boot camps, and member-only summits that facilitate peer-to-peer knowledge sharing, success story showcases, and emerging market insights

·        Market and Policy Innovations - Clean energy technologies that could have major positive impacts in reducing economy-wide emissions are created every day but bringing these technologies to market is complex. This team provides resources to help energy buyers navigate when and how they can engage in this complex landscape and enhances their ability to influence policy making by providing research, analysis, and actionable information

·        Supply Chain and International Collaboration – The SC&IC team empowers large energy buyers and their suppliers with the resources necessary to streamline clean energy procurement across national and global supply chains.  They connect large energy buyers, international NGOs, and a community of sustainability practitioners to support global procurement of renewable energy

·        Membership Value and Experience – Working with current and prospective members to expand REBA’s impact to 50,000 buyers is essential to accelerating the transition to a clean energy future.  This team provides information and outreach to accomplish this foundational goal

·        Media and Communications – Professional and effective communications are essential to creating non-incremental change.  This team drives collaboration and innovation in all program areas by tracking, sharing, and amplifying key trends, best practices and other relevant information

·        Operations - Realizing a zero-carbon energy system requires effective operational and administrative support systems.  Operations interns can gain experience in variety of functional areas in including organizational development, staffing and recruiting, finance, IT management, and non-profit structure and governance  

Intern Responsibilities

·        Support one of our program teams in progress toward realizing REBA’s vision of building a resilient, zero-carbon energy system where every organization has a viable, expedient, and cost-effective pathway to renewable energy

·        Depending on program needs, may perform a variety of duties involving research, analysis, creation of reports, internal and external communications, as well as logistical and administrative support

Qualifications

 

  • Actively enrolled in a relevant graduate or undergraduate course of study at an accredited institution
  • Passion for achieving REBA’s vision of a resilient zero-carbon energy system 
  • Shared commitment to REBA’s core values of Respect, Integrity, Service and Excellence (RISE) 
  • Able to work effectively with others in a collaborative, team-based environment
  • Able to take initiative and solve problems independently
  • Strong written and verbal communicator
  • Eligible to work in the U.S.
