The Renewable Energy Buyers Alliance (REBA) is an alliance of large clean energy buyers, developers, service providers, and NGOs, who are unlocking the marketplace for all non-residential energy buyers to lead a rapid transition to a cleaner, prosperous, zero-carbon energy future.

Job Description

 

Why Intern with REBA?
REBA is driving towards a zero-carbon energy future. REBA Interns gain essential professional skills and experience in a non-profit trade association while working alongside a world-class team. They gain both the birds-eye view of how system change can be accomplished and understand the daily tasks and activities which ensure its realization. They learn about renewable energy including how corporations across all sectors, like Google, General Motors, and Citi are shifting the energy system, while building professional skills across a diverse range of topics. 

Internship Structure

Compensation:  This internship position pays $20 per hour. Credit for this internship may be available through your institution.

Length of Internship: 4 months, with possibility to extend based on performance and availability.

Schedule: 20 hours/week, weekly schedule is flexible and will be determined with your supervisor after hiring.

Mandatory training: Tuesday, September 24th from 11am to 4pm Eastern
 

Location: REBA DC office: 1425 K St NW, Suite 1000

Internship Content: Interns work directly in one or more of REBA’s programs and quickly become an essential part of the team. They work with an Intern Mentor who supports daily work, and an Intern Supervisor who ensures a positive experience and continual growth. Interns will identify 2-4 key objectives which they intend to meet throughout the course of the internship, agreed upon by their Supervisor.

Core Responsibilities

  • Under supervision of Director of Communications, lead the development and implementation of proactive strategies across REBA’s communications platforms to support REBA’s mission and vision.
  • Help translate communications program objectives into strategies and campaigns with measurable impacts.
  • Create compelling content based on industry trends and member activities for REBA’s social media accounts, including Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, and LinkedIn.
  • Support campaign development for events, member recruitment, and brand expansion that targets key audiences and advise on new trends that can strengthen future amplification efforts.
  • Leverage analytics platforms to compile weekly analytics reports showing impact across REBA website, email campaigns, and social media channels.
  • Create and copy-edit op-eds, power presentations, talking points, and other communications materials.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned to ensure the efficient and effective functioning of the communications team.

Qualifications

Interns must be 18 years of age or older. We are seeking applicants with the following qualifications:

·        Graduate students majoring in any of the following (can be a combination of major with minor):

o   Environmental science, energy management, conservation, journalism, communications, marketing, business management

·        Interest and commitment to REBA’s mission, values, and overall addressing energy and environmental issues.

·        Minimum of 2-4 years of relevant experience in strategic communications, media engagement, public relations, journalism, or environmental science, or a similar field. Internships may be counted towards this requirement.

·        Excellent communications skills – writing, editing, and importantly, simplifying complex topics.

·        Highly motivated, creative, and product work style with the ability to juggle multiple projects and meet deadlines.

·        Basic graphic design skills, including design software is desirable.
