Job Description

Summary: Full-time administrative position responsible for delivering a high level of service to students, their families and the University community pertaining to student financial services. 

This position is not exempt from provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and is eligible to earn overtime pay for hours worked above 40 in a single work week.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include:
•    Serve as executive assistant to the Associate Vice President
•    Welcome and direct visitors warmly and accurately
•    Serve as work-study and student employment coordinator for the federal work study program
•    Manage SFS work study students and their scheduling
•    Provide general office management assistance
•    Run daily letter production and manage forms
•    Answer main telephone line and general email box in a prompt, professional and confident manner
•    Provide information regarding financial aid and student accounts
•    Accurately receipt student payments
•    Accurately enter data in software system
•    Provide proactive administrative support to SFS Office
•    Proofread and edit communications to ensure clarity and grammatical correctness
•    Provide calendar and logistical support for Directors
•    Maintain an exceptional level of confidentiality following FERPA guidelines

Non-Essential Duties:
•    Serve as a building captain for Jernigan Hall
•    Serve as a backup student financial services counselor
•    Complete special projects and additional duties as assigned to enhance the level of service and commitment to students, their families and the University

Qualifications

Experience, Knowledge and Skills Required:
•    Proven customer service skills and enthusiasm for providing exceptional service to diverse populations including undergraduate and graduate students, parents, staff, faculty and other constituencies
•    Proven success working in a team environment and independently
•    Exceptional attention to detail and aptitude for ensuring accuracy when working with numbers
•    Excellent interpersonal, communication, organization and analytical skills.
•    Proven ability to follow-up and follow-through to completion
•    Talent for prioritizing competing tasks in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy and timeliness on detailed operations
•    Ability to appropriately express empathy to the financial concerns and stress of students and their families
•    Self-motivated to get the job done right, on time and with available resources
•    Technically competent and proficient in Microsoft Office products and Adobe
•    Experience in a higher education environment is a plus, as is prior experience with FERPA
•    Bachelor degree required or equivalent combination of education and experience

Physical Requirements (with or without reasonable accommodation)

•    Dexterity, Grasping, Feeling: Write, type and use the telephone, copier, and computer systems.

•    Talking: Frequently convey detailed or important instructions and ideas accurately, loudly, or quickly.
•    Lifting, Pulling, Pushing: Exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Work Conditions
    Work in office environment, involving contact with faculty, staff, students, service providers and vendors.
    Work has deadlines, multiple interruptions, high volume and may be stressful at times.
