Responsibilities
In this role, the K-12 Course Review Manager will:

  • Manage the K-12 Course Review activities of the QM Quality Assurance department with responsibility for QA goals, assuring the integrity of the course review process, and supervision of the Quality Assurance Administrative Assistant (PT).
  • Support the Quality Matters™ (QM) organization toward the achievement of the QM’s philosophy, mission, strategy, and its annual goals and objectives.  
  • Support the requirements of the Quality Assurance Department through implementation of the strategic goals and objectives of Quality Matters™ largely by supporting course review services and related initiatives of Quality Matters.

Essential Duties

In fulfillment of the responsibilities, the K-12 Course Review Manager will:

  • Manage Quality Matters course reviews for the K-12 Program.
    • Ensure state or content standards submitted with a course review are correct.
    • Contact Reviewers and assign them to course reviews according to policies and procedures.
    • Maintain accurate course review data and ensure course reviews remain on schedule.
    • Answer course review policy and procedure questions as needed.
    • Provide guidance to stakeholders on how to apply Specific Review Standards and Annotations
    • Provide guidance and follow-up with Master Reviewers and Reviewers to ensure timely and accurate course reviews.
    • Resolve conflicts in course reviews through investigation of facts and application of QM policy.
  • Communicate with current and prospective participants/institutions about course reviews.
    • Provide an overview of the different types of reviews an institution/participant may want to consider with Quality Matters.
    • Answer course review related questions from current and prospective participants/institutions, organizations, and service providers.
    • Assist prospective organizations when determining what type of review approach may best fit their needs.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert for K-12 curriculum-related questions.
    • Answer questions related to alignment of K-12 curriculum.
    • Provide guidance on demonstration of alignment within K-12 courses as required in the K-12 Rubric, Fifth Edition.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert for K-12 state standards questions.
    • Develop and maintain a manual of specific state online course eligibility rules and regulations.
    • Answer questions related to use of state standards.
  • Maintain and report on course review data.
    • Update QM Data with appropriate course review information.
    • Conduct data analysis.
    • Collaborate with the BI Analyst on data analyses.
    • Provide weekly status report on QM course reviews.
  • Manage relevant staff with responsibility for goals, development and maintenance of all offerings, and supervision of QA team.
    • Maintain a climate that attracts, retains and motivates top quality personnel.
    • Actively participates in hiring process, confers with Executive Director or Senior Academic Director or Director of Quality Assurance for salary and promotion recommendations. 
    • Provide ongoing employee development for staff. 
    • Provide timely feedback, support and direction to direct reports.
    • Carries out annual evaluations of QA staff.
    • Manages all personnel issues for relevant staff.
  • Manage Internal and External Relationships
    • Coordinate with all relevant quality assurance stakeholders, as necessary to ensure Quality Matters standards, policies and practices are consistently applied.
    • Communicate information (via phone, email, website, etc.) regarding quality assurance products, services, and processes, as needed.
    • Represent QM Quality Assurance in all communications including meetings, webinars, phone, conferences.
    • Serve on committees during K-12 Rubric revisions.
  • Collaborate as a member of the Quality Matters Team.
    • Participate in weekly staff and team meetings.
    • Work with staff and subscribers in small work groups as needed.
    • Work with QM staff to meet the strategic goals and objectives.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

Self-starter, capable of being productive in a fast-moving virtual office environment with the following qualifications and desired skills:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or minimum 2-4 years related work experience in K-12 online education
  • K-12 curriculum development knowledge and experience
  • Knowledge of and experience with a variety of state content standards.
  • Ability to multi-task with high attention to detail and strong organizational skills
  • Excellent time management skills, including the ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines consistently
  • Strong work ethic with a high level of professionalism
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-moving, virtual work environment
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Background in quality assurance for online learning
  • Knowledge of the Quality Matters K-12 Rubric Specific Review Standards and Annotations and the National Standards for Quality Online Learning and experience
  • Experience in the application of the QM Rubric to online course design
     

Technology Proficiencies

  • ·Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Video conferencing software, Zoom
  • Google applications
  • Ability to learn proprietary database systems as well as other software packages, as needed, i.e. Alfresco.

QM operates a virtual office, and this will be a remote, home-based position.  Applicants must reside in one of the following states to be considered for this position: CT, FL, IL, IN, KS, KY, MD, MI, MO, NM, NV, OH, OR, PA, SC, TN, TX, or WA.    You should also have access to reliable high-speed internet. 

The salary range for this position is $63,000-$71,000. We provide our employees with a competitive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, life, long-term disability, 401(k), 12 paid holidays, paid vacation and paid sick leave.

Work Environment and Physical Demands

This job operates in a telecommuting and/or home office environment. The work in this role is conducted primarily through the use of computers or computer-based and internet technology as well as other office productivity machinery such as a computer printer.  As such, the job is largely sedentary and requires continual and sustained operation of a computer.  The person in this position frequently communicates with peers, colleagues and staff in both synchronous and asynchronous modalities. Must be able to exchange accurate information in a timely manner. This role requires occasional travel to conferences and meetings.

Regardless of physical location, all QM employees are required to be available to attend the synchronous core schedule of Monday through Friday, 10:00 am to 3:00 pm, ET and participate in weekly staff meetings. (Exceptions on a per case basis)
