At Qantas, we represent Australia to the world. Within our high-performing culture, our people are empowered to make things happen. We operate with trust and support, and in return we expect ownership, initiative and results.
The Manager, Group Fleet Analytics plays a critical role in shaping the Qantas Group’s fleet strategy through the delivery of robust financial and commercial insights. The role supports the Group Fleet Reference Plan (GFRP) and associated activities, including aircraft retirement and trading, fleet procurement (including leasing strategy), and the evaluation of next-generation fleet technologies across the Group’s flying businesses - Qantas Airlines (Domestic and International), QantasLink (including affiliates such as NJS and NAA), Jetstar Airlines (Domestic and International), and Qantas Freight.
You will play a central role in major fleet investment decisions by leading detailed financial modelling and commercial analysis. This includes supporting Requests for Proposals (RFPs) with key OEMs (e.g. Airbus, Boeing, GE, Rolls-Royce, Pratt & Whitney), through the evaluation of aircraft economics, lease versus buy analysis (including end-of-lease considerations), and aircraft trading strategies (e.g. sell, part-out or retire scenarios).
Beyond analysis, the role contributes thought leadership across fleet strategy, maintaining a strong external perspective on industry developments, key players and emerging technologies. You will translate these insights into clear, actionable recommendations to inform decision-making and shape the Group’s long-term fleet direction.
The Manager has leadership responsibility for key fleet projects across the Group and owns the Group’s aircraft valuation tools and fleet data analytics. In doing so, you will partner closely with stakeholders across the business and Group functions, including Treasury, Investor Relations and Group Finance, to support asset valuation, capital planning and broader strategic initiatives.
What you’ll bring to the role:
- Minimum 5+ years relevant experience in the commercial aviation industry, preferably in finance, fleet or network planning, or other commercial roles
- Fundamental understanding of airline economics, fleet planning principles, fleet investment economics, and business case development
- Strong financial and analytical capability, including experience in building and interpreting financial models
- Strong understanding of the airline industry and the critical interdependencies that influence fleet strategy
- Genuine passion for commercial aviation, with a proven ability to stay across key players, emerging trends and next-generation technologies, and to act as a fleet thought leader by translating these into clear, actionable insights that inform decision-making
- Excellent communication, influencing and relationship-building skills, both internally across the Group and externally with key counterparties
- Advanced skills across Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Experience working with senior stakeholders
- People management and/or project management experience, including the ability to manage multiple priorities through to delivery and implementation
Highly desirable:
- Tertiary qualifications in a relevant analytical or quantitative discipline (e.g. finance, economics, engineering, mathematics or business). Postgraduate qualifications (e.g. CFA, CA) considered highly desirable.
