Job Description

  • Lead Qantas Group external and internal communications, to protect and enhance the brand.
  • Provide strategic counsel to senior leaders, managing key stakeholder and media relationships and delivering impactful storytelling
  • Permanent position based at Mascot Campus

The Manager Corporate Communications position reports into Senior Manager Corporate Communications and is responsible for managing and supporting Qantas Group external communications, key issues, crisis, stakeholder engagement and media strategy. This position is also responsible for helping drive internal communication strategic direction and delivery of in a dynamic, fast paced environment. This includes developing initiatives aligned to the strategy of relevant business units and continuing to evolve how we engage our large workforce.
 
Key responsibilities include managing strategic communications campaigns, providing advice to a variety of key stakeholders, managing complex issues and responding to media and providing external and internal communications support for a range of key initiatives, with the overall objective of protecting and promoting the Qantas brand across a variety of portfolios. Building and managing key stakeholder relationships is a key part of the role including managing a variety of media and opinion former relationships on behalf of the brand. Responsibility for both proactive and reactive storytelling for Qantas as we continue to build trust and pride in the brand across a variety of stakeholder groups.

You’ll have – 

  • 6 - 8 years of relevant experience.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Communication or Journalism or equivalent industry experience.
  • Demonstrated and effective communication skills, especially written with strong
    storytelling capability and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with a diverse workforce.
  • A strategic understanding of communication and its role within a large organisation.
  • Excellent ability to consult, analyse issues and process information.
  • Strong and proven stakeholder management skills including the ability to influence and advise key stakeholders on strategic outcomes.
  • Literacy and proficiency in a range of computer applications including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Good working knowledge of design and brand guidelines, desktop publishing and print production.
  • Highly motivated self-starter.
  • Confident, collaborative and curious in approach
  • Proven organisational aptitude with emphasis on attention to detail.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, self-motivation and a pro-active attitude.
  • Ability to function effectively under pressure, manage various tasks concurrently,
    adhere to timelines.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels of the company.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
