Job Description
As a Bioinformatics & Data Assistant, you will support the day-to-day operations of our Bioinformatics & IT team, running established pipelines and maintaining data quality across our dermatology research projects. You will work closely with our Bioinformatics team, with occasional support to other team members with data preparation tasks.
The tasks required to be undertaken include:
- Run and monitor established bioinformatics pipelines (RNA-seq, proteomics) for routine sample processing
- Perform format and consistency checks (QC) on incoming and processed data
- Maintain and update data processing templates
- Document dataset structure and QC guidelines
- Support implementation of gene panels for main disease models
- Help automate QC checks into dashboards and periodic reports
- Link data preparation steps with existing pipelines
- Coordinate with App Developers and Bioinformatics team on data requirements
- Provide occasional support to other team members with data preparation tasks
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in bioinformatics, computational biology, or life sciences with a computational/data component
- Basic experience with R or Python for data processing
- Familiarity with next-generation sequencing (NGS) or omics data concepts
- Precision and attention to detail
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Good written and spoken English
Nice to have
- Exposure to DESeq2 or similar differential expression tools
- Interest in gene expression and genomics data analysis
- Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., ggplot2, Prism)
- Strong problem-solving skills and a willingness to take on new challenges
