Job Description
The Group Reporting Controller is a newly created, strategically critical role designed to build the technical accounting and financial reporting leadership layer between the Finance Director and the four process towers. The Controller will own the Group's reporting and compliance layer — consolidation, technical accounting, internal controls and statutory compliance. This role is the single point of accountability for the integrity of QIMA's consolidated financial statements, the quality of IFRS technical accounting outputs, and the readiness of the Group's financial reporting for both internal stakeholders and external auditors. In addition, the Group Reporting Controller will serve as the Financial Controller for all 36 legal entities covered by the GSC Cebu, acting as the senior local point of accountability for the financial integrity, statutory compliance, and audit readiness of these entities.
1. Group Financial Reporting & Consolidation
- Own the Group's monthly and annual consolidation process.
- Ensure the accuracy and completeness of the Group's consolidated financial statements under IFRS.
- Oversee the monthly board cash flow report and management accounts pack, including flux analysis and narrative commentary for Group CFO and board consumption.
- Manage the Group's Chart of Accounts governance framework across the whole QIMA Group.
2. Technical Accounting
- Serve as the Group's primary IFRS technical accounting authority for the SSC, providing first-line review on all complex accounting matters before escalation to the Finance Director.
- Own the preparation and review of Technical Accounting Memoranda (TAMs).
- Monitor and assess new and amended IFRS standards, and communicate impact assessments to the Finance Director and Group CFO.
3. Internal Controls & Compliance
- Serve as the primary liaison with the external auditor for all audit queries, ensuring timely and accurate provision of audit evidence packages .
- Coordinate the statutory audit calendar across all relevant entities and manage the audit deliverables timetable.
4. Statutory Compliance
- Oversee the Statutory Compliance Specialist (direct report) in managing statutory compliance requirements.
5. Month-End Close Governance
- Own and enforce the Group's month-end close calendar across all four process towers — AR, AP, GL, and Consolidation — with explicit close deadline authority.
- Escalate non-compliance to the Finance Director; drive root cause resolution for recurring close delays.
- Publish close status reporting to the Finance Director and Group CFO.
- Drive continuous improvement of close cycle time, with a target of reducing the consolidated close to WD+5.
6. Leadership & Talent Development
- Lead, develop, and performance-manage direct reports, including GL and consolidation team.
- Build the technical accounting capability of the SSC management layer through. structured coaching, PDP delivery, and knowledge transfer from Finance Director to tower managers.
- Serve as the senior technical resource for the SSC fielding complex IFRS and accounting queries escalated from the process towers.
7. Financial Controller — Cebu-Covered Entities
- Act as Financial Controller of record for all 36 legal entities under the GSC Cebu, accountable for the accuracy and integrity of each entity's local books and financial statements.
- Sign off on entity-level trial balances, balance sheet reconciliations, and statutory financial statements prior to filing or audit submission.
- Ensure each Cebu-covered entity meets local statutory, tax, and regulatory filing obligations, coordinating with local advisors and the Statutory Compliance Specialist.
- Serve as the primary local contact for external auditors, tax authorities, and regulators on entity specific matters across the Cebu-covered portfolio.
- Maintain entity-level risk and control ownership, escalating financial, compliance, or governance risks across the 36 entities to the Finance Director.
Qualifications
Essential:
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) — active license required.
- Minimum 8 years of progressive finance experience, with at least 4 years in a group reporting, consolidation, or technical accounting role.
- In-depth knowledge and experience in complex financial reporting standards in a multi-entity group environment — not just exposure, but hands-on journal entry review and TAM preparation.
- Demonstrated experience managing or supporting a Big Four external audit process (Deloitte, PwC, EY, or KPMG) at a substantive level.
- Proven experience in a multi-currency, multi-entity environment.
- Experience in a Shared Services Center, Group Reporting function, or Global Business Services environment.
- Strong command of NetSuite OneWorld or equivalent ERP at an advanced reporting/administration level.
QIMA is a fast-moving organization undergoing significant transformation. The Group Reporting Controller will need to be:
- Technically authoritative — you are the IFRS expert in the room; people will look to you for answers, not for second opinions.
- Operationally grounded — you understand that technical excellence is only useful if the close runs on time and the team can execute; you do not disappear into theory.
- Diplomatically direct — you will need to give honest assessments to the Finance Director, the CFO, and to managers whose work does not meet the standard; you do this constructively and without hedging.
- Development-oriented — a significant part of this role is building the capability of the managers below you; you derive satisfaction from making others technically stronger, not from being indispensable.
- Has audit-ready mindset while building teams that do the same.
- Resilient and adaptive — the portfolio includes an active transformation programme, and a multi jurisdiction regulatory environment; you thrive in complexity, not despite it.
